I had thought of bouncing some of those doom laden posts from before the season, The type that 'Steve Foster' used to start and had people predicting it would take the trains 4 HOURS to clear the crowd.

a few extra shuttles between brighton and lewes and the two car ashford diesel train is replaced by an 8 car electric as far as eastbourne and back. seaford train is 4 coaches instead of the usual 3, ore train is 8 instead of 4.

Perhaps the drive to Coldean, clogging up of the neighbourhood with unwelcome cars and 25 minute walk to the stadium are not the only viable means of transport after all?

There have been 21 games I think so far at the stadium so therefore only 21 working days so to get the transport this efficient so early is a monumental success story in my view.

I also think, especially after reading the 'Bus from Worthing' thread, that many people are descovering how efficient the buses can be as well.
It was always going to take time to 'bed down' as people found their quickest way of getting to and away from the Amex. I agree with BH that it's fantastic that it's been this quick and bodes well for the increase in capacity.
I've really been impressed with the staff at Brighton station. They've constantly tried new things (how the queuing system works being the main one) to get as many people on the trains as quickly as possible.

Very true, four out of the last six home games I've left the pub after 200pm, bought a tinny from the offy, walked straight onto the platform, straight onto the train and got a seat.
No wuckers.

It had nothing to do with people being twats as the majority of the concerns were based on the serious limitations of that railway line, I had major doubts on how it was going to work and have been surprised how well it has gone so far and the fact it has comes down to 2 things. 1...The intitiative of railway staff and BT police, And 2....The main change was the instalation of equipment that allowed trains longer than 4 coaches to stop at stations along that line. Without those 2 things train travel would've been a lot more chaotic than it has been so far and it's still yet to be seen how things go when there's a problem on the line.
The Leeds debacle put me off the trains, I know it was still relatively early days but it was touch and go if we'd make the match. On a train only to suddenly see EVERYONE bolting to the train on the next platform which was apparently going to Wivelsfield and then back to Falmer because there was a problem on the Brighton - Falmer track. Then queueing for a taxi for 40 minutes before hearing the trains were running again and running back to where we started. My main question is, what's the queue like these days when back at Brighton for the Shoreham bound trains if you get perhaps the first/second train back from Falmer?

You will get straight on the 17:33 Brighton - Southampton, just go to the far end of the station as the entrances are all re-arranged.
They weren't 'twats' at all, they were people with very real concerns asking valid questions - unless you're one of those 'twats' who thinks that any comment other than praise and thanks is 'moaning'.
And you wait until there's a signal failure in Lewes ...

I have been impressed at the improvements to the rail solution. Its resolved itself much quicker than I expected so well done to all.
The Park and ride seems to have balanced itself out now too (the racecourse has alwats been a well run one). The seagull travel services clearly do a good job and the special buses seem to have balanced too.
The club now have the confidence in these services to be able to tackle the a27 snarl up due to drop offs knowing that additional users of the other methods can be accomodated.
As I say, well done all.

That would be an exception and as an isolated incident people will accept this as such I would think. This thread is about the general improvement in the service provided nobody can account for odd failures or incidents.
This. There is nothing twattish about asking valid transport questions.
There are many reasons why the transport situation is holding up nowadays, not least that fans have settled into a routine that works best for them. I haven't been to anywhere near enough matches to justify the season ticket outlay but nevertheless I now have a routine I'm happy with when I go to the Amex.
It'll be interesting to see what happens next season if the stadium holds 31,000. I think the club need to put in place at least one more P&R, and also need to increase space in front of the stadium to get people on those buses. Personally I'd halve the parking space in the car park and use the rest as a alighting concourse for those buses. They also need to see if the bus companies would improve integration of their regular services so that people can hop into town straight after the game.
