"Prove it"

My neighbour, who is exempt, carries a letter from their doctor.

Then your neighbour is very lucky. When I spoke to my doctor about getting a letter ( as I am really in one of the exempt groups ) I was told doctors couldn't do that so instead download the certificate from the government website - which anyone could download.

I don’t really buy this argument. If people started pissing in the concourses there would be enforcement, minimum wage or not.

That's true. But 99.99% of punters would be behind the stewards in such a situation. The problem with masks is if 20% won't wear them (and I expect it would be far more in parts of the ground) the balance of power suddenly become rather different

Small price to pay for going to a game. Suspect there won't be too many left we can go to for a while.

If we're turfed out before the Brentford game most on here will get double-bubble.

They got to moan about how they couldn't go because of the appalling time.
Then.
Moan about being unable to go because of Covid.

Happy dayz.

At the Villa game, whilst stood outside waiting to get in, a steward walked along the queue with a clipboard asking if we had all filled in the covid form. "Yes, yes & yes" came the replies, followed, as she walked away, by "what form?"
Getting on a ST coach I forgot to put my mask on. The driver just gave a hint and I stopped instantly and put it on. A lot of the time it is just being reminded. So perhaps those big burly guys who watch the lights flicker on the turnstiles should also just give a hint to 'put on your mask'. Or even the security guys outside the ground, or the guys inside making sure you have the correct ticket. Three people you pass through and if one of them asks you then we all should be wearing a mask.

And if they say they have Asthma, ask to see their inhaler. And check it is in date.

It is not the law that anyone has to prove that they are exempt but, in some cases, it is against the law to discriminate against someone with a disability. So chucking people out because they can't or won't prove that they are exempt could result in prosecution of the out-chucker.

This thing is moving so fast that I even think there’s a small chance that we’ll not be permitted at the game on Wednesday night. Very unlikely, but there’s a chance.

There has now has to be a considerable chance that the few who fancy the Amex at 8pm on Boxing Day won’t be allowed to go either.

Yep……quite likely to be limited capacity at best on Boxing Day I reckon.

Irrespective of speculation about fans being locked out again, what's the point of the form? I haven't seen any other club require one?

Easy to enforce mask wearing in the queues for food - refuse to serve those not wearing a mask.

Start ejecting anyone refusing to wear a mask.

Rightly or wrongly, this would be against the law if said person claims exemption, for which there is no legal requirement to prove. See:

While personally I'd be happy to have your suggested check, I need to point out that someone's medical condition ( whatever it might be ) is between them and their doctor. Hired stewards from a London Security firm don't have the right to know about it and possibly the intelligence to check it.

Maybe exempt-status should be pre-declared on the questionnaire thing the club are supposed to be sending out prior to the Wolves game. Which would be clearly halfway to Big Brother (the second half being compulsory vaccination)

But how else does the club stand a chance of enforcing mask-wearing? Tho if it's a law of the land, maybe on-the-spot fines might just focus the simple minds of the jolly boys who think Covid is something to do with some other bloke somewher else. Jolly boys will be piling off the trains without a care, without a mask, same as always.

All heavy unwelcome stuff. Far easier to just play the games behind closed doors again. Especially at this time of year when it's bloody freezing at the Amex :moo:

Ah the old 'limited capacity' gambit.

I can hear the commentator now:-
'Here at the AMEX I assume the club have started reduced capacity and social distance support, ahead of tomorrow's government mandate'.

Babs - 'have we?'

I'm beginning to fear that we may have almost seen the last of full attendences for the remainder of this season.

I was very surprised to hear a statistic on Radion Snooze (Sussex) this week, that barely 40% of the total population of Brighton & Hove and received both vaccination doses, never mind the booster. Alarmed as much as surprised actually.

What hope has society got of trying to combat Covid with stats like that? Until that number substantially rises we are basically p*****g in the wind.

All this talk about the wearing of facemasks on this thread, (and yes l believe it should be a mandatory requirement by law), but compared to the need to get far more people fully vaccinated, it is such a minor thing.

(Posted this on another thread but prob more corectly belongs here doh)

Last Xmas my best mate's missus couldn't bear to spend the big day without their traditional clan gathering. Twelve of them attended. Eleven of them came down with Covid. Luckily none needed hospitalisation, tho all felt rough to varying degrees. Hit the eldest worst.

These are the stakes you're playing for if you're even thinking of attending the Amex between now and Xmas. Doesn't seem a big ask to maybe reduce the communal risk by wearing a f*cking mask for a couple of hours

Craziness in the extreme, such a small price to pay l agree. Just shows how selfish some people can be. It's the me first and sod everyone else society we seem to be living in now.

Good post. I really don't think there's been enough publicity for how dire vaccine rates are in B&H.

Yet most people seem quibble about is masks, which show such relatively little (albeit better some than none!) difference it's infuriating
