I do apologise if this has been covered already but I'm pretty sure we have recently reduced the length of the pitch. I noticed it at the Roma game (more space behind the South goal and the South stand).

Am I right ? and if so any thoughts as to why ?

Not sure, but is there an absolute standard size for euro games, as opposed to a range of lengths and widths for PL and domestic games?

There are TIGHTER standards for euro games - I've taken this from uefa.com website

...... A subsequent amendment in 1897 stipulated that pitches should be 91–119m long and 46–91m wide, albeit with greater precision required for international matches (101–110m long and 64–73m wide).

Today, the regulations governing UEFA's competitions allow for fewer surprises, with pitches required to be 100–105m long and 64–68m wide.

Time for a random observation. At the end of every home game they very quickly dismantle the North Stand goal but the South is not touched. Anyone?

It’s prep for additional rows of lower tier seats, they’re reducing the gradient. Taking us to 35,500.

@Hugo Rune photographed the construction company kit, but wrongly assumed it was for the FanZone.
I'm sure I read about one club where to fit more seats in, they actually lowered the pitch (basically digging down from the old one). Because there was a lot of space between the stands and the pitch, this enabled them to build an entirely new lower tier. Perhaps this is what they are planning for the Amex? :ROFLMAO:

Barca did this a few decades back.

I believe that Man City done this when converting the athletics track into the current ground

To prevent a repeat of these scenes after we thrashed Palarse.
