I doubt Covid has affected Bloom's bank balance. It's a good job it looks like we are staying up. There's no good time to be relegated but with this pandemic there will certainly be less money floating about.

A fortune based on commercial real estate and gambling not impacted by Covid? Ok then.

Indeed. A lot of businesses aren’t paying lease holders and of course the impact in major cities will be huge with companies downsizing real estate as more people work from home

Isn't Bloom with a billion or so ? The point i was making is that 4 million isn't going to affect him is it ?

The betting companies absolutely love Covid. People locked up with nothing to do but gambling. People losing their jobs and desperate to make some "quick money".

Shame he doesn't own one then. Do some research instead of shovelling pizza in your gob.

Just one note of caution, do we know if this latest development to The Amex will still go ahead due to the Covid crisis?.

The biggest consideration is the timescale it will take to build. Usually a project like this would be completed during the close season with around 14-15 weeks of no fans in situ. There may well be a hold up with planning applications or approval and with a complete uncertainty of when football fans will return it's difficult to plan for such a project.

Probably on hold until summer 2021 then.???

The south east corner can feel a bit oppressive, when I've been right under the concrete at the back. Though you're certainly well-protected from any weather.

What’s the atmosphere like? Did it hold in the sound from the away fans next to you?

Given that the stand above could be quite low, I wonder if it would make for a more ‘old school’ kind of atmosphere.

It could look like one of the stands behind the goals at Arsenal’s ground...but blue obviously and a few rows smaller. They have that ring of seats that goes round the whole stadium that overhangs by about 5 rows, I think I was under it for the away game.

Looks like there’s room for seats above the West Stand wings, apart from the North East corner, I can’t see where else they can put hundreds of seats in.

If the North shelf is going to be 3 blocks of 5 rows of 28 seats, then that’s 420, although maybe a bit less as they will be premium seats and given more room.

Not sure if it will help with the overall atmosphere, it could make it louder for the people underneath (Liverpool away end springs to mind) and it might direct the sound to the pitch better, but I can’t see how it will make a difference to the rest of the ground, might even have a detrimental effect.

All for more capacity especially since we seem to be losing out to Southampton due to slightly less. But yes we already have right sight North Stand, left side North Stand and sometimes centre North Stand we would get a North Stand upper into that as well for the utter confusion as to what chant we should be following.

Both the kiosk application and the north stand have been approved.

Change to the north stand: BH2020/00770

Got bored and decided to do a mock up of what the view might be like for the North Standers at the back. I think the overhang could be similar to that of the South East Corner.

I will be under that. Not overly happy that people who bought some of the more sought-after seats in the ground off the back of being long-term season ticket holders at Withdean could have their view altered quite significantly to squeeze in a few more corporates (which I'm guessing these seats are).

Someone mentioned the back of the stand at Arsenal - I was in that spot a couple of years ago and it was fine for one away day but was a bit shit otherwise.

As it's just a few rows it may only have a really limited impact, but unfortunately we won't know that until it's too late either way.

Buckingham will be minded to look after the Albion because we’ve helped their football construction business, we’ve got Tony Bloom and therefore pay our bills. A significant factor in these ‘unprecedented’ times.

They really should have found a new place for the police box, and made that new shelf above the north stand wrap around to meet the middle tier of the west stand.

You don't imagine for one tiny attosecond anyone lounging in the seats in North Upper will sing do you? ???

I like. :clap2:

I've always felt the back wall of the North makes the ground look 'emptier' than it is; this helps give the sense of "fans everywhere you look".

Apologies for not trawling back through the thread, but do we know how much this new shelf will raise capacity by?

I’m row x, so hoping for the expected acoustic enhancements. Hopefully it’s high enough not to restrict the view

The planning application includes a change of capacity up to 32,500. I don't think that is just this shelf, so they maybe considering other areas to expand in the future.

The crowd over there is not like the back of the North stand, so it's hard to make a comparison.
