I dunno - I'm sure some weird little nerd somewhere won't be slow to contradict - but I for one am just relieved and happy to see Martin Perry's safe pair of hands all over that application too.

Mssrs Knight and Bloom justly get the plaudits for their herculean efforts but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty spadework for something like this and countless other applications like it, I reckon we've been bloody lucky to have had him on board throughout. That stadium's a testimony to him as much as anyone else IMHO.

I'll this, second, absolutely and indeed this statement. A relatively unsung hero who seems to have been forgotten slightly since we've all experienced his achievements.

They're going to make our seats slightly smaller so we're warmer in the winter off of each other's natural warmth. Luckily, i am sat between two very fat people, and can easily disappear into their blubber, more than likely sometimes finding poundcoins in there and Blockbuster cards.

Please post on here more often. You brighten up my day.

Exactly. You need a really good, thorough, unflashy details person who knows their subject matter inside out when it comes to this stuff and we've been blessed with one.

I was slightly concerned how it was going to look but they have worked it really well and will look very different to how it does now! I can't wait!

It's almost like they knew what they were doing.

We are, as somebody else has already said, very fortunate to have Martin Perry in charge of these things. Credit DK for persuading him to join us. Dick Knight's initial vision for the stadium, Martin Perry's know-how and Tony Bloom's cash. No wonder there are some very green eyes further up the M23/A23. Huff and Puff as much as they like, it is clear our future is significantly brighter. [awaits the same tedious trash from the same tediously predictable posters].

I once went to a cinema in the US where the back row comprised of pairs of seats which angled in towards each other, encouraging the occupants to intimately snuggle together, as though on their settee at home. I would fully endorse this at the Amex (although I sit next to my sister, so that could get a bit weird).

There was a cinema in the West End of Glasgow (the Tivoli) which had double seats.

Sorry that his nothing much to do with the original thread.

I'd place money on him going to Bristol after he gains planning consent for us !

The TRANSPORT Conclusions:-

11 CONCLUSIONS

11.1.1 Savell, Bird & Axon have been instructed by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club to
advise on the traffic and transportation issues relating to changes to the previously
consented Community Stadium scheme.

11.1.2 Consideration has first been given to the efficacy of the Amex Travel Management Plan.

11.1.3 When compared with the generally observed proportion of spectators travelling by the
sustainable modes of cycles, coach, rail, walking and bus/walk, it is clear that the modal
shift to travel by sustainable modes of transport has been more substantially more
successful than assumed at the time of the original planning application.

11.1.4 Furthermore, the Amex Stadium experiences an extended supporter arrival profile, with
supporters arriving at the Amex earlier than traditionally occurs at football grounds. Such
an extended arrival profile has created clear opportunities to deliver transport by
sustainable modes by effectively extending the pre-game carrying capacity of sustainable
transport modes to encompass two hours before a game, rather than traditionally the
shorter time periods observed at other grounds.

11.1.5 The approach that is proposed to be adopted in relation to the planning application to be
brought forward for the extension of the stadium, is to identify improvements to the
transport strategy to ensure that the use of sustainable transport modes is maximised
and that, accordingly, the levels of traffic associated with the extended stadium would
not take the total levels of traffic on the local highway beyond those previously agreed.

11.1.6 On this basis, the report has identified the levels of spare capacity that are currently
available within the existing Travel Management Plan and provided a consideration of
where additional capacity could potentially be realised.

11.1.7 Based on the levels of spare capacity that are currently available within the existing
Travel Management Plan and the release of additional capacity, in a scenario that
excluded the delivery of an additional park and ride capacity, we consider that the Travel
Management Plan can be amended to provide sufficient capacity to meet the additional
demand for travel.

11.1.8 Should the temporary Bennett’s Field consent not be renewed, we believe that it is
prudent to require either the provision of additional park and ride or delivery of
additional improvements in capacity to other transport measures to meet the displaced
transport demand that would arise.

11.1.9 We would invite the consideration of an appropriately worded condition requiring the
delivery of additional park and ride capacity (or other transport improvements) should
Bennett’s Field parking not continue to be available, before more than 29,255 seats (i.e.
22,500 plus 6,755) can be occupied.

11.1.10 Contingent on the delivery of an additional park and ride facility or the retention of
Bennett’s Field for parking or the delivery of a similar replacement facility, it is
anticipated that the Travel Management Plan could be amended to provide capacity for
the additional 8,250 supporters, which would more than accommodate the potential
increase in demand for supporter travel that would occur as a result of the stadium
extension proposals.

11.1.11 Having set out the projected transport contributions to accommodate the additional
demand for travel that would occur as a result of the proposed Stadium extension, the
potential changes in traffic that would occur on the local highway network have been
established and a comparison undertaken with the levels of traffic that were agreed as
being acceptable by the various highway authorities at the time of the original Stadium
consent.

11.1.12 From the analysis, the levels of traffic that are predicted to occur at each of the junctions
considered are less than those agreed by the various highway authorities at the time of
the original Stadium application, with the exception of the Village Way junction, where a
modest overall increase of 60 vehicles above the levels anticipated at the time of grant of
consent has been identified.

11.1.13 On this latter point, we consider that these movements are likely to represent taxis or
other supporter drop-off vehicles. However, it is important to recognise that the surveys
were undertaken at a time when parking controls along Village Way were not
enforceable. It is, though, anticipated that Village Way will have been adopted well in
advance of the provision of the additional seats and that the predicted traffic flows will
be within those agreed at the time of the original application.

11.1.14 As such, it can be concluded that the development proposals should be considered
acceptable in highways and transportation terms.

Why? He's a Brighton fan, and has the training ground to sort out as well as the Stadium. There will always be planning/development issues for the Club that will need his experience.

This indeed, I would like to think that we would retain the services and expertise of someone like Martin Perry - Absolutely top bloke who can continue to fulfill an essential role for the Albion!

This is an important bit that will limit the size of the stadium to 29,255, unless more P&R capacity can be found.
