I had a close call coming of the WSU after the match. Just stepping outside when the door got blown back shut very hard and smashed into me. Fortunately my mate behind me saw it coming just in time and managed to break the impact. Still nearly knocked me over though.

Bournemouth away, 20 years ago maybe, I had a program inside a winter coat, when I got back to the car it had rained so hard that I just had the outer edge left and a massive hole in the middle.

Oh yes, that was awful. I still remember the thick steward asking us this question when we arrived at Dean Court: "how far did you get before you realised the game was still on?". Erh, we're here, mate.

Cardiff away, a couple of years ago, with the added bonus of the wind blowing in our direction for the whole game.

Bristol Rovers one boxing day, lost 1-0, IIRC. Water polo would have been easier.

This will always be my abiding memory of a game that should never have been played. Noah referred, Duncan Goodhew swam the line and sure I spotted a fin in one of the lakes littering the pitch. It was atrocious. A gate of about 5k I was amazed it was played, never mind finished. The wind was ferocious too. Rovers goal came after a pass back that got stuck in a giant puddle - the epitome of the comical conditions in which the match was played.

I'm gutted I didn't make it clear this was an AMEX era thread...

...oh.
(Thankyou nwgull)

It was yesterday. That was the worst weather in the Amex era (not including the fogtastrophy, which I have deliberately excluded at your request).

When it comes to rain.

I think we had a game called off due to snow did we not? The pitch was fine but the boulevard from the station to the stadium was deemed unsafe. Those deemers, eh?

That was the wettest I’ve ever got at The Amex. Rain blowing in the front and the west stand roof leaking alarmingly.

3-3 vs Bournemouth in early ‘94?

We were 1-3 down going into the last 5 mins, and Paul McCarthy (RIP) scored before Chappers rattled in a 30 yard equaliser.

Exactly this, we were on the East terrace, soaked, actually drenched! never been so happy @ 90 odd minutes, we went straight to the Exchange for cold beers and steamed dry! Happy days
