Ex Amex here - 1990 - 1994, my god there was some fit birds there in my day (including one very lovely ex girlfriend of mine who i believe still works there)

Is it still the same these days or is the place overrun with homos?

Still loads of fit birds, especially on the third floor.

any other NSCers at Amex/left amex,

im in credit collections 4th floor

surely youre not the Jim I once knew there, who was into American Football? (quickly checks profile - different person.. ooh well.)

I started as a temp at Amex House 1992, and lasted 2 years(!) doing credit control / collections / reconciling ledgers, then anoher 2years (taken on as permnent staff) on the switchboard in the fancy 'Platinum Card' section.. another year at gatwick (busines travel) was enough brown nosing/admin for me..

I helped re-shape the floor plans around 1979 as a contract draughtsman. There was some talent in there, and my job entailed looking under their desks and walking all around their offices, willy nilly.

Never got any of 'em, so I spose it was indeed willy, nilly.

The summer came around with loads of foreign, then willy got loads

Worked at Amex from 91-93 on the YTS. Was in IT so went to all the offices - the Travelodge by Preston Park used to be an Amex office called Paston House. And what is now the Brighton Custody Centre in Hollingbury was called Centurion House and is where they used to have huge teams of ladies manually keying in the details from those old paper ROC slips, had the best staff canteen of all the offices.

I did my work experience in 1991 at Centurion House. Maybe I even met you. I do wonder what happened to all the people I met back then.

Matt Hicks, the Albion community officer, also used to work for Amex. I'm not sure in what capacity but he's done well for himself.

I knew Matt back then. He worked in Sussex House. If I remember rightly he was part of the FRCC.

Too far from the sun
8 years there up until November last year when I decided upon a total change of career/lifestyle. If you have to work in an office it's as good as any. They treated me pretty well and I got to travel a bit to most of Europe, the US and the Far East. Did my stint in 154, the Vicarage, Cavendish Annex, Napier house and then finally 18 months in Sussex House.

As Pasty rightly says, it's only once you go elsewhere you realise that they are actually pretty good, though I do know a few people who left because of the constant restructuring. One guy I know had to reapply for his job 4 times in less than 3 years.
