If you can get over the historical North Stand Goldstone issues the South is exactly where our vocal support should position themselves now.

Not only is it next to the away support, but last season the North didnt sound that loud at the away end anyway.

I remember the last time we played Blackpool at home in front of 30,000+. It was at the Goldstone in 1978, and we missed out on promotion even though we won. Make it another game, eh?

I think that was about 26,000.

I wonder if the bloke in front of me in the queue for the northeast stand reads NSC? I found it amazing that he somehow managed to vault over the turnstile in one easy move and avoid paying admission in spite of the chase by some plod into the crowd it was quite a feat as the gap in those spaces was very small and yet he showed considerable gymnastic qualities.

Exactly this, unless when all seats are completed away fans are moved into the nothern corners. although thats not going to happen is it.

This is great news - but sadly I don't think we'll ever see a 30,000 plus crowd at the Amex. The overall capacity when the stadium is completed is 30,750 - but some seats will always be taken up for segregation between home and away fans in the south and east. And there will always be a few STHs who will be absent, even for the massive games. So even if the away team sold all their tickets, I don't think we'd ever get more than 29k. Shame really, there was always something special about hitting the magic 30,000 mark at the Goldstone (only happened 21 times - nine times in the late 70s, and never in the top flight).

Norwich in 83 was 28,800, Arsenal in 87 was 26,467 and Southampton in 86 was 25,000+ too. But I don't think we've had a 30,000+ crowd since 1978/79, which is just before my Albion supporting time, so I can't really imagine what it was like.

Great news. Those extra seats will definitely be needed for the Playoff game, and it'll be tremendous for the players to have the extra fans there as they complete their "see you at Wembley" lap of honour after the game.

That was the most crushed at any game I've been too but didn't care was 13 & loved the madness of it all was around 6 steps from the back when the case goal went in I ended up 6 steps from the front an avalanche of people lost all my mates had no mobiles back then so all met up back at school Monday to share memories of a great day

Have they started the SE extension and 1901 extensions yet?

Checking Tim Carder's book, the last time we had over 30,000 was against Charlton in April 1979 (30,859).

My second-ever Albion match was a Tuesday night game against Palace in Feb 1976. Both sides were on the fringes of the 3rd Division promotion race at the time (so we're talking a League One level clash between teams who were 4th and 7th, or something like that). The attendance was a mere 33,300! Unbelievable.

So, just to confirm...North West corner will be completed by the end of the season? If so, those tickets will be sold on a match-by-match basis?
Next season I want a season ticket in the NW stand - cheaper than East Upper. Suppose I'll be able to request a change in stands at the end of this next season?
