Amex car park changes - this will upset the early leavers parked in Bennett's Field

At the Bridge car park, it would be more efficient if cars could exit via Moulscombe as well, instead of just the Bridge route.

First 2 games of this season you could still exit that way
Then they banned it
To keep the natives happy I suspect
You can still enter the car park through the moulscombe entrance

1901 members get parking included in their package that hasn't changed. For corporate clients, the cost for a match and meal at the Amex is probably cheaper than 90% of the other clubs in this division, and cheaper than most Premier League clubs also.

Not strictly true Phil...you have to have two 1901 seats to qualify for a parking place.

Are most 1901 members on corporate jollies or are they mainly ordinary fans with a bit more money to spend?

TBH I see a mixture of JCLs, Corporate jollies, and a lot of true fans who have been to the Goldstone,Gillingham ,Withdean...more of the latter I would think....us old 'uns need comfort now...and must admit,it's nice to have a prawn Sarnie and a V.A.T....as if,haven't seen a prawn Sarnie on sale there yet..

Anyone who gets out within 45 minutes at the moment are either box holders, therefore they park at the top of BF, or they leave a good 10 minutes before the final whistle. You cannot get out of that car park inside an hour if you park any more than 2 rows down and leave your seat at the final whistle. The 45 minute wait option being propsed by the club will change nothing.

I've left at the final whistle and been in Withdean by 5pm. But then, my seat is in the family stand, not the West 1901.

1) Many BF people will move to the University car park and that will have a knock on effect there.

I directly asked the Transport Manager the same question. I got a patronising, fluffy reply telling me what a great idea it was and something to consider for the future etc etc etc

I have not ploughed through this whole thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned. I find it interesting the Mr Barber was talking about the Monday home game against Hull City and stated that the issues were outside the clubs control.
Part of the letter referred to the increase in fans being dropped off and picked up in and around the Amex causing danger to them selves and others in doing so. I would like to point out that this particular part of the letter was within the clubs control. why on earth for evening games when normal bus services are reduced from daytime schedule, would the club reduce the P & R available to fans? I would suggest to the club that not giving fans the Racehill P&R would have definitely increased the drop and pick ups from fans from Woodingdean/Rottingdean through to Peacehaven. I do know for example 4 members of my family used this method for this game, something they never do because they would have normally used the Park and Ride.

Theres a difference between some brain-dead idiots throwing coins at a Premier League footballer and brain-dead idiots who have assaulted staff members and have nearly ran people over, which if it carried on - could result in someone being badly hurt. This is preventable and is being prevented - the idiots at Selhurst cant......except the idiots getting banned.

I don't think they're any less likely to argue with stewards or drive dangerously or on the pavements after being told they have to wait for 45 minutes. If anything it will make the situation worse.

Just called the club to arrange switching to the uni. Could not have been more helpful and as the person who deals with disabled parking wasn't there they will sort it and call me back.

I never leave a match before final whistle*

My personal best is leaving 1901 right on whistle running ahead of everyone else in our group and meeting them at the exit gate and getting back to Hove Snakey Hill by 5.10pm

The stewards used to let you out before the buses were ready to go and then filter everyone else out as quick as they could. They also had two stewards closing off the gaps and alternating cars in the top left pinch point which causes most of the problems.

When they did this BF worked ok - not perfect and would have been better if they opened another exit at the bottom so everyone didn't race to the top corner.

The main exit where the cars and buses meet was better a while back too when they had a steward (Michael with Glasses) on that point. He actually really controlled it and evened out the flow so no one felt hard done by.
The club should remember we are English, we don't mind queuing so long as its fair and queue jumpers are sent to the back!

Its a bit like when roads filter to one lane, it works better when people use both lanes to the pinch point and then filter alternately, this works fine until one pratt in the left lane thinks people passing him on the right are going through ahead of him so he blocks up both lanes making the pinch point 5 miles back now and 10mile queues further back overall with everyone else now too scared to use both lanes!



*except perhaps when losing 4-0 away say in a pouring rain no roof stadium (like Bournemouth/Portsmouth/Fulham/Orient used to be)

I've just remembered.........

A few games back it seemed to be extremely heated in the Car park after the game. It was pouring with rain and the stewards seemed to have disappeared completely save for one or two at the exit gate.

It was bad weather and I think we had a lot of time added on and I don't blame them for not wanting to get soaked but it is part of the job and thats when the situation deteriorated due to the lack of stewards.

I think someone needs to grow some balls and sort it out properly for all

Your right, they were originally going to use land that now is the playing field for BACA for 1,000 or so spaces but this obviously was no longer available when they were finally allowed to build the stadium.

Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I seem to remember that it was for three years only, which make this the final season and I have not heard of any plans to where it will be moved.

I was correct it was originally only for three years:

By virtue of Section 91 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, the development to
which this permission relates shall be begun not later than the expiration of THREE
YEARS beginning with the date on which this permission is granted.

1. The car park hereby approved, including all engineering works involved in the
formation of the car park, shall be authorised by this permission until 30 June 2014 only.
