Amex capacity increase - if so where?

There is surely some scope as already mentioned in the SE corner. The East Stand Upper could surely wrap around the corners too.

But ultimately we need a proper, fully functional season ticket exchange. The 5-10% of STH's who don't show each game would supply the demand for all but the glamour ties.

This! Look at the corners, the outlets below are made flat on top so that a tier can go above them like the north corners were. It won't raise by much but an extra 500-1000
 






Simples.
1. Sell Amex to developers who could demolish it and build retail units so that those in Hove where Toys R' Us is located could relocate to a less constrained site.
2. Build new 100k seat stadium on the site in Hove thus released. Nearby park could be concreted over for matchday parking.
3.Home games to be played at Lancing whilst all this is going on, easily put some temporary scaffolding stands up in the interim.

Nearly forgot.

Not going to happen, transport infrastructure is stretched already and Barber has said further expansion is too costly for the number of seats you would get. Only possible changes in future would be safe standing.

Makes no difference if the extra people stand or sit... infrastructure is still the issue! The club have made it very clear that safe standing would only be possible on a 1:1 swap because we are already at the limit for all the other factors that limit our growth.
We don't have enough toilets, exits, parking, trains, buses for a quick expansion.

North Stand was sadly badly designed and could have been a much larger capacity .

The ground is designed and orientated to suite the topography and visual impact of the site. The design maximises the capacity with the West Stand up against the slope of the site. The visual impact is then reduced to the ends so min impact from views to the North and from the South. If you take a walk over the Downs from any direction, this isn't BS, the stadium does genuinely look appropriate to the site with the sweeping roofs and the way the building is orientated.

Would have been great to have had a huge North Stand, but this particularly site wouldn't allow it, that isn't bad design though, that is making the absolute best of what you've got.

I think far more thought went into the Amex than any other English football ground in recent times - there was a lot of time for thinking. It's a shame the North Stand's not bigger but that doesn't mean it's 'badly designed' considering the constraints that applied if the club was to have any hope of planning permission.

Current infrastructure would prevent increased capacity. Transport and parking is already fully stretched.
Survival in the Premier League in 17/18 would allow for a hefty season ticket price hike in 18/19 to help increase profits (NSC goes into meltdown).

The one area we could improve in is the ticket exchange which should realistically not leave an empty seat if managed correctly. There has to be a more flexible and generous system than the current one.

Not seen anyone ask this before so just curious, if we regularly max out capacity is there any opportunity for further increasing the Amex capacity or is that it? It would be a bit weird if the team manage to become a PL team playing virtual capacity each week with no chance to expand - dont fancy another 10 years of battling the council ???

Increase capacity in the train and P&R queues maybe ?:lolol:

The club could fund an expansion of Falmer station to make it capable of taking 12-carriage trains, almost instantly providing transport capacity to shift an extra 5-6k people away from the ground with the same number of trains in the same period of time.

HOWEVER... SASTA are not a strategic partner capable of delivering 12 carriage trains consistently to either weekday evening games (of which we will have an increase) or saturday afternoon games.

What would be interesting would be for the club to take over the franchise for the Brighton - Lewis line and run their own 12-carriage trains on match days and lease the line/rolling stock back to SASTA the rest of the time.

It would be a truly unique offering... Blue and White trains running from Brighton & Lewis to a Blue and White liveried station outside the ground - full but not over-full services every 15mins in each direction pre- and post- match.


Of course it would never happen... but it would have looked spectacular!
