The Donald (and Mitch McConnell) is going to be shaping America for the next 20 years.
Exactly, there should be fixed terms for the Supreme Court justices just as there are for the President

Complete cowardice on the part of successive elected governments to confront the gun lobby head-on. What on earth is WRONG with that ****ed-up nation? Don't #kidslivesmatter?

Too many rednecks producing too many rednecks. America will never change without a civil war and that won’t help matters either.
I think the absence of any leader to take on the gun lobby could be because they are afraid that they and their family will be shot for doing so. It'll take incredibly brave leadership.
The USA has a history of murdering their presidents. The next one to take on the gun lobby and attempt to introduce serious controls will be dead before the end of his first term. If Biden gets a second term he might attempt it if he's brave enough, on th grounds that he's got fewer years than most to lose - but I won't hold my breath.
The point is that it's not currently worthwhile for a president to try and change anything, because of the staunch "do nothing" attitude of the Senate. The November elections are a crucial opportunity for actual Democrats to get an overwhelming majority which will enable them to suggest and pass real reform.
Whether there's a chance of succeeding or not, a serious attempt and statement of intent is enough to guarantee a death sentence with these nutters around.
