you could read this piece as either a massive new statement of intent from Bloom or if you're a close reader of what he and Barber always say - then its just what they always say.
Bloom always has (presumably) - every summer - "ambitious recruitment plans," , has talked before about establishing Albion in the top 10 / Europe, they always confirm that there have been no formal bids for RDZ (doesn't mean he won't leave) , they've been talking to him about a contract for a while, no surprise that RDZ "likes it here" , and finally they always say they don't "need" to sell players. (but that doesn't mean they won't - if they get some eye watering offers or don't want to stand in a players way) .

I think what this interview / chat (with Barber ? i guess) is more about is teeing up the imminent 22/23 accounts which are going to look very positive indeed in terms of profit

It’s from Alex Crook so a very reliable and trusted source.

The squad is actually quite large and if we miss out on Europe this season keeping everyone happy will be hard if we add too many.

It’s quality we now need, not quantity.

Alex Crook has clearly got that information from somewhere near the club, and then the writer of the article has fluffed it out with conjecture. I suspect we will sign 2 max 3 "prem ready" players starting with KDH. Would be quite shocked if Adingra left. I suspect Mitoma is the only one we are really at risk of losing but he's 26 so won't get bids of £100m+ which may mean we keep him. I had a thought that perhaps this has been part of the transfer strategy all along, sell players for big money to make sure we are FFP and PSR compliant when lots of other clubs won't be. Swoop in and improve the squad with prem-ready players that won't cost as much because other clubs can't buy and the selling clubs need a certain amount to sort their PSR. Thus giving us the chance in a unique market to get ourselves into the top 5 maybe in 4. Even if RDZ leaves imagine the attraction we would be for a top, top coach. Exciting times...
Absolute genius if true.

But for it to be true we would need to have an owner who is a genius gambler with the timing of a ninja.

Hang on.......

Yes, even if we lose Roberto we’d be in a great position to find an excellent replacement.

With FFP biting hard, the threat of sanctions being shown to be a real after Everton's points deduction, other clubs will have to sell players.

We are a club that buys under value or at value players... this window will be THE perfect time for those kind of acquisitions. Cash rich and well in the green re FFP... i am looking forward to this summer after these statements.

If we want to keep the manager, and get him to sign a new deal i suspect part of the deal maybe to be a bit more ambitious in the window, without diverting from the general type we sign. Should be fun

If we were to be "ambitious" this summer is a good a time as any. FFP has spooked a few and I can't see the likes of Chelsea blowing 100s of millions as they must run out of lines in the spreadsheet sooner or later. The club's with financial muscle are struggling to use it and this must surely present an opportunity for the Spurs, Brighton and Brentfords of this world to compete when we otherwise wouldn't have been able to.

I'm sure the rules will get changed in the future to allow the owners to spaff as much as they want but in the meantime it's as good as an opportunity for us as we are likely to get.

re: ambition . Isn't spending £30m on Jaoo Pedro , Ansu Fati's loan fee / wages, 23m on 19 year old midfielder, 17m on a Brazilian defender and so on - an "ambitious transfer window" . Or is next summer going to be a really "ambitious transfer window". I really think we're all getting a bit carried away here.

I also think the only player with a risk of leaving will be Mitoma. And culturally I don't see him kicking off like the spicy south Americans so we have a reasonable chance of keeping him unless a silly offer comes in.

Think teams will be sniffing round Pedro as well but , again , it would require a bid well north of 100m to get him. Conjecture but I suspect we would tell him to wait at least another season.

I have a weird feeling lamptey will go. Lots of rumours a year ago. And he's just appointed a new agent to potentially facilitate a summer move.

Mr Bloom clearly trying to defend us against The palace Fightback.

They'll be one less Euro place up for grabs next season.

As clever as Tony is, I think it's more of a case of fortuitous circumstances that we are now in position to take advantage of.

This whole FFP panic only arose after Everton had points deducted and everyone else realised "oh this is serious" and had to re-evaluate their strategy.

Including us in all likelihood - from sell big to moneybags clubs, to buy cheap from FFP borderline ones.

But RDZ seems to like him. He's getting plenty of game time.

I just wonder if he wants one position to hold down though. He does seem to get shunted around.

Yes I was told this info about a new agent from a friend in the business but it was 2 months ago and things are looking rosier now for lamptey

Without wanting to put a downer on things (I'm gonna put a downer on things), does anyone else think it's weird that we're basically telling everyone that we'll be chucking money about in the summer? That's very un-Bloom imo.

But on the other hand, this is from a source that seems well-placed with the club, as Bozza pointed out.

So what's going on? I suspect it's one of two things. Either the club are letting this story get out because they want to reassure RDZ that they're committed to helping him build a killer team for next season, or they're expecting to be searching for an RDZ replacement in the summer and this is a way to smoke out candidates who might be thinking "I fancy that job, but not with their usual transfer budget".

I just think it's a journo who has made a story out of an innocuous quote. I'm not attributing any Bloom Barber masterplan to this story

But have the club actually said anything? I am yet to read any actual quotes.
There are very few people who would know the specifics behind “...owner Tony Bloom has ambitious recruitment plans for the upcoming summer transfer window as he bids to transform the Sussex side into an established European outfit.” And 'Crooky' is probably not one of them.

I wouldn't rule it out, because TB has said the latest plan it to become an established top 10 club and then, I assume top six. But it's pretty lazy journalism to put two and two together and come up with a line like that. IMO, like.

I'm not sure it's the case, I remember that for years PBOBE would bang on about the importance of FFP in interviews (though for the most part my memory is hazy) ... maybe the reasons he was giving was a smokescreen for the real reason - that all knowing TBMBE saw this coming years ago, and it was just a long term plan to be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful - to quote another billionaire... another to Tony, that is, not another to me ... I'm barely in the one comma club on a good day, let alone the three.

Ambitious transfer plans:

"We're going to sell all our best players, not buy anyone (except perhaps Mason Holgate), and push towards our stretch target of remaining in the Premier League..."

I agree it does seem like much of the same as previous summer transfer windows.
