They're fine for that, very good picture and decent sound and while not the best my understanding is that they're as good a quality as ones that are a far more expensive.
And I sideloaded Google Play so I could have Now TV on it and it was quick and pretty easy. YouTube, Netflix, Iplayer, All4 are all on there without having to do this

Thank you, will make a very nice Xmas present I think. Can I just ask, did you go ads or no ads, and if ads, are they noticable or just slide them off the lock screen? (baring in mind it's for a child).

I went with ads( I think you can remove them later on if you want to) but they only appear when you start up or 'wake it' up. Doesn't show ads when streaming or browsing or anything like that that would annoy anyone and they're easy to swipe away
