Also heard them booing JOhn Utaka when he came on today.

They are no better or worse than any of us, the myth about their fans is just that, a myth.

Maybe the Pompey fans are staying away because they're sick of that bloke with the bell (most likely sick of the smell of him, from what I've heard).

It's not too many years since they were getting crowds of 6,000 at Championship level - Portsmouth fans need to be reminded of this more regularly.

At last the truth is out..........Portsmouth "fans" are as fickle as most other clubs....(that includes us)....But the last two home attendances of 17k (far from sellouts) Highlights that they are probably the most fickle fans in the premiership.

However you look at it it's a result pop pickers. The slide of Pomposity FC continues at pace and we must all rejoice in this long overdue occurence, the FA Cup win being a mere blip on an otherwise downwards trajectory.

Pompey fans are noisy I'll give em that, but then so are West Brom.

Pompey's average gate is 3000 below capacity so far this season.
Not as shocking as Sunderland and Birmingham who are both -10K and Villa -8K

As for fickleness, my definition is a team with a big support when they are doing well and not when they are shite. Step forward Saints and Plymouth Argyle.

Sad to say it, but in our last season in the top flight we were getting crowds of only 14-15k. It's about having a winning team but also the fans picking up positive vibes about the direction in which the club is going. Despite what some of them will have you believe, Portsmouth is only a medium sized club in a medium-sized city - 17k to watch a struggling team in decline actually reflects well on them (or would do if they hadn't spent the last 5 years trying to persuade everyone that they were the Barcelona of England)!

But what you've written in brackets at the end says it all - Brighton fans never claim to be the best in the country unlike their Portsmouth counterparts.

Would place at least 30 clubs above Pompey in terms of loyal support.

Take out the 4,000 seats in the away end as well.
