Ok, it cant be denied DK has done many good things in the past, but, I am livid that the story that has come out paints a picture that we are in Economic meltdown.

Why has it come to this now? Last week Mcghee was saying that Leons and Dannys contracts were well in hand and there was nothing to worry about.

Now we are told that we are totally skint, need 2 mill, and unless we get some serious cash well lose both players and our manager.

The club must have known this was on the horizon yet we sign 3 new players on long term contracts and offer contracts to Reid, Piercy, and Hammond.

Now some people are saying this is clever tactics by DK and the problems arent that bad, well, if thats the case then the club are really taking the piss. Saying things are tight is one thing but by emotionally blackmailing the fans by saying the manager and players are at risk and the situation is that grave is bang out of order if its not true.

We all know that Falmer has cost us dear but we are only talking about an additional £200k on that one, bar that the club knew what we had to spend and we were never told how desperate the situation was. There could have been all manner of money raising activities in the past year.

30,000 people came into direct contact with the club when selling Play off tickets, why not have the cash collections going then, becasue hardly any of the casual fans will send in money from a letter.

There have already been good suggestions on how to raise cash on NSC, weve had all summer when charity gigs could have been organised and sponsorship events taken place.

I really feel like we are constantly abused becasue we are the loyal hardcore support and love the club so dearly, and are seen as a cash cow by the club, who should be far far more creative when it comes to the commercial side of things.

Kits, lack of Dvds, centenery videos, contracts to crap players, there have been massive blunders with all of these and again its us who pick up the pieces.

Rant over.

Dan.

I suspect in late July, Prescotts farcial " lets reopen the enquiry in 6 months time " cop out was the last straw for the club.

I'm not angry, I'm worried about the club. I'd much rather the board are honest with us now and try and get some money together than us fall into administration in six months time.

Nevertheless I was fairly shocked at the announcement, especially considering the signing of players and the contracts situation which seems to have gone very quickly from 'it's all in hand' to 'the stadium situation is making it difficult' to 'we need £2m to stay afloat and if not we will lose players/manager'

I'm angry, worried, disheartened and confused. Apart from that I feel pretty chipper.

Not me. It must have taken some very careful thought for the board to come out and all but beg for money, it must be a kind of last resort for them. If you are angry make sure you all get to the next fans forum and ask exactly why this is happening. If you are not there you won't get the answers you need.

I'm not angy... I'm very frustrated that I can't do more financially to help - I'd love to - but current income and family commitments make that pretty impossible.

Of course, I'll support every event I can, and continue to pay for season tickets, shirts etc... etc... and probably find a standing order to meet the £250 request.

It doesn't make me angry, because I don't feel anyone is guilty here... except possibly the NIMBY's and government (with a small g) for all the delays, but that's life in 21st C Britain.

It's just very frustrating, so much is tied up in getting Falmer approved and going ahead... DK and MP must be feeling under real pressure - now is not the time for carping and criticism.. now is the time for SUPPORT!

I agree with Dan. We are a great club with great fans and a passionate board who care about the success of the team and not just about making money for themselves. However that doesn't take away from the fact that the club is horrendously mismanaged.

The delays and missed opportunities for merchandising are horrendous; the club's attitude towards the older pros, though respectable and honorable, is weak and costing us money. Players and managers show time and time again that if a better offer comes in they move on straight away without a backward glance. Yet we continue to keep players on our books who we don't need or feel we owe a salary to out of thanks for previous seasons' performances.

I really hope that this money shortage isn't as bad as it appears, but it does reinforce my fear that even if we get the new ground we won't be able to finance it. There has to be a balance somewhere between a romantic 'fans' favourite' chairman and a hard nosed businessman like Rupert Lowe who would actually develop the club and not mess about, but where you run the risk of being shafted.

This is a time to be calm, not angry.

We are not "totally skint", nor in "economic meltdown".

We are raising money, on the back of the goodwill that exists within the growing community of people who follow the Albion.

The timing is not dictated by the bailiffs knocking on the door - my definition of "totally skint" and "economic meltdown" - but by the fact that we are on a roll - a fantastic campaign over the last year to win people round to supporting Falmer, an amazing promotion into the Championship, and an encouraging start to the 2004/05 season with a home-grown team performing beyond some people's expectations.

This is more than passing the begging bowl around the hardcore fans. It's about giving new supporters and local businesses the opportunity to sign up to the success of the Albion and give something to an organisation that is putting the city on the map.

Be excited if you want. Be uncertain about how much we'll raise. Be hopeful. But don't be angry.
