I’m not sure what is to be gained from this post. The Argus (Worthing edition) who have stitched up the OP and his family with very minor an almost irrelevant ‘front page story ‘ recently - regarding a door security incident , will almost certainly be aware and will be considering to publish a page 7 exclusive.
Perhaps the idea is for the tabloids to pick up the Nazi - Love Island connection. Who knows

It’s about as politically correct as a player going to the Christmas do as Freddie Starr’s Adolph Hitler. (As Ian Muir did back in the day)

Someone at work was talking about how many complaints Netflix has had from youngsters about “how un pc” friends is.

I don’t see it? I’m in my 30’s for reference

Within my life time I’m afraid we’ll be living in a humourless and soulless society. Some folk need to get out, get pissed and start living a life instead of being offended by others.

Sign of the times, just look at the amount of replies to this thread .
Only an Albion signing would trigger more.

A bit of a sweeping generalisation re “old people “. Being in my late 70’s I do not think I match your description and cannot think of any of my peers who hold such intolerant views you describe.

Thats a very fair point. Its kind of why I kept it from being a sweeping generalisation : 'just talking to my older in-laws and others of their age'. People I know. Not all old people are intolerant, obvs.

Of course they are also some of the loveliest people I know, and yet they come out with this stuff in conversation. They would be delightful to those people's faces, I have no doubt.

What I like most about Harty is he is still gloriously un pc, hence this post. It was an unwise comment in this day and age but the fake outrage is something to behold. He is a decent fella and anything he said was most certainly without malice and bringing his daughter into it is not on. She was the one from Love Island who could hold her head highest from all the others. She fell in love with a fella and he crapped on her and she walked because of it. Noble and strong Lady. The problem for Harty and middle aged men, like me is that you simply cannot say the things you used to be able to. Any mention of Nazi's however was always going to be playing with fire

I am not suggesting we should repeat everything from the past, but comments like this? Yes we can, we just need to defend our position and not be cowed (sp) by others intolerance.

All Nazis with Sussex connections should be encouraged to leave.

Well we can't. That is the World we live in now. I am not saying making inapproprite comments is the way to go but everyone is offended with everything now. It is a very tedious world we live in now and very bland. EVERY person under 25 should be forced to watch 1917 to realise they have not got it so bad really and not being offended with the now and history and not identifying as male, female or a penquin. World has gone nuts. I will be off this merry go round soon and you know what ? I am glad. I lived in the glorious 80s where most under 25's would have had an issue with everything. Girls on Film by Duran Duran would have not seen the light of day. Their loss

She found this analogy, in her words, extremely offensive, and I have received an official communication from her line manager reiterating this fact.

It was a quip, and I honestly meant no offence, but are these kind of things really deemed politically incorrect?

An apology would probably be useful.

As a funeral director that specializes in burials, you can reassure her that you'll only let her down once.

Sorry US, but I think you are a similar age to me and don't remember anything about the first or second world War (thank God!).

However, I do remember 1976 and I remember how shit it was, despite what Ppf claims. And if the cost of living in the 21st century, with everything we have now, is to be a bit careful about not being the same T*** I was on west street in 1976, and being a little more careful about not upsetting the kids who will be paying for your health care, I think it's a small price to pay.

There is literally no ‘outrage’ from any poster on this thread. Not a single one. And nobody as far as I’ve seen has suggested that he meant any ‘malice’ - only that he was ill-advised to use such an analogy, and ought to have seen the reaction coming.

And the OP is the one who brought his daughter into the discussion.
