A case of the wallet over the career, that one. Allens just a mercenary.

This is a good move for MKDons as Martin Allen is one of the best managers in the Football League.

In London village.
Shame as it may delay Franchise going out of business.

I grudgingly admit he seemed to do a reasonable job at Brentford, but lets not confuse managerial ability with being a quirky bully.
At the end of the day he still didn't manage to get a fairly decent Brentford promoted from a very ordinary division.

Alan at work who is a brentford season ticket holder ( and criminally insane) recons the fans fell out with him in the second half of the season.

Seemly his strange tactics and substitutions was a factor and the fact that he publically critisised the supporters in the local rag.

Sound familiar?

Surely this is why most people dont want MK Dons to do well? Town with no desire to do anything but buy instant success. Hope Allen is a utter failure and they carry on their downward progress

Allen certainly has a mixed reputation, he did well but perhaps not well enough given the Brentford team he had.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on with his new lot.

Not really, to be totally honest. Who is it?

MK Dons have the potential to become a big side. There are no other teams in MK and it is one of the fastest growing towns in the UK.

Their problems being:

1. most of that growth is due to immigration, so that most of the football fans among the new population already have a club

2. there are three league clubs within 30 miles of the place, which between them have the longstanding support of most of the local football fans who have lived locally since before the franchise moved into the town

Add to that the justified hatred of proper football fans, and they don't have a chance. They will not command a large support in the short to medium term, and will have to survive through that to get to the potential riches of long term growth in support (which doesn't seem likely).

Neither here nor there
I'd rather they sign a proven manager like Jeff Wood or Jimmy Case.

My immediate hope for MKD is to see them being beaten in a league game at Priory Lane by Eastbourne Borough.
