These are places i got hooked on a few months ago when I went to the No1 Oriental Buffet in Manchester. To me it makes perfect sense. Why pay a fiver for a happy meal or equivelent when for a couple of quid extra you can stuff your face with Chinese food to your hearts content.

Does anyone know of any good ones in Brighton or surrounding areas? Theres a pretty good one in Crawley of all places.

Funny you should say that, it happenned to a work collegues mother a month or so ago in a Hastings curry house, she broke a tooth on it and put it in her knapkin (not knowing what it was at the time) she showed it to her dentist and he said "that looks like a microchip"

Think your workmate is having you on - I've heard this tale repeated from a couple of different sources now before seeing it on here today - its one of those urban legends doing the rounds methinks.

Or chinese whispers.

Ive been to Interwok in Worthing, lunchtime £6.50 12-4.30.Nice selection and agree why pay £5 for a McDs when you can pig out-I go extra mean and have a jug of water.Theres one in Bognor and its £6.50 even lunchtime weekends-I went there Sunday night for the evening buffet.

China Royal in Bognor?

not bad, get a few tubbies from butlins in there. Good one at Felpham-china inn.

The proper canteen style ones are for absolute dullards who don't appreciate remotely decent 'food'.

The Oriental Village in Portslade gets a thumbs up from me though, as does the China Palace in Worthing.

Interwok Worthing is very good value at night aswell much more of a selection than day time menu, even sirloin steak! all in £12.95

Dragon inn Rustington have the occasional buffet deal, if not a buffet it can be on the expensive side, but in general this is the best Chinese I've been to.

is the oriental village not in hove? i thought the boundary of portslade and hove ran down the middle of the road......oriental village is on the hove side surely?

Pedantically yes. But then, so is Portslade Station which when I was a lad was called Portslade & West Hove.

Which area would you define Carlton Terrace as being in?

Is the western Portslade boundary Trafalgar Road?

I have tried a couple in Worthing and have been dissapointed by the quality of food and the constant hovering of the 7 stone teenage waiters. When it's time to go they are stripping the table for the next lot as soon as you stand up. Its a pity that the rise of these Chinese troughs have led to the demise of The Penang in South Farm Road, Worthing. where the food was always fantastic and the service excellent.

Isn't it? Mmmm? Marvellous.

They cloned my card the cheeky slags.

I got £500 for my troubles.:drink:

They are up to to allsorts in there.

Food aint great either.:nono:

I avoid Gekko/Wokmania/Whateveritscallednow on West Street like the plague, had some terrible food there. I also never trust anywhere that has such a huge amount of dishes and types of food, how much attention can they have given them without a staff of hundreds of waiters? And i'm also fairly sure the same food sits there all day!

Used to be hooked on these big time. For a goof few seasons it was a tradition of ours for away games, finding a chinese buffet in each city we went to for a pre match meal. Must have been to dozens up and down the country
