Didn't see Beckhams' debut but did see Norman Whiteside (he of the crazy tackle on Chris Ramsay) play for Man Utd at the Goldstone just before the end of the 81/82 season, think that might have been his debut.

I saw David Beckham's debut and have known for ages.
I LOVE telling Man United supporters, particularly ones who NEVER got to games!!
I make them look like right wankers!! HAHA!

It is shown on the video of the 96/97 last season at the Goldstone, in between shots of the demolition of the ground..

Tee Hee - I can play that game too now.

Another favourite of mine is in a place full of ManUre fans shout out "Put your hand up if you've been to Old Trafford". Then put my hand up.

Not only did I see it, I well remember singing "Who the f***ing hell are you?" when he came on and "You're so shit it's unbelievable" when he didn't do so well. :lolol:

Didn't sing that to him when I watched him play in Japan though. Hasn't he come on well?

Yep remember that game Gully. The Man U fans were calling his name out before he came on (as a bit of a joke). Man U won 1 -0 with a late goal.

I didn't see Beckham at the Goldstone but I was at Wimbledon to see him score that goal from his own half!

I posted a similar message to this one a few years ago and all I got was abuse -- "why are you discussing Man Ure on a Brighton site?" etc etc. Nice to know things have moved on a bit.

I was at the game but didn't really register that Beckham was making his debut. I was too busy frowning at the "Hastings Reds" banner in the east stand.

Seem to remember Fergie signing lots of autographs for people in the front of the West Stand.

is this his man u debut or his first competitive start, all comps?
because i know his league debut was for preston on loan against doncaster.
either the doncaster or the brighton game he scored straight from a corner.

Tony Cottee also scored a few and possibly a hatrick against the Albion very early in his career :(
