You're right about it being a beautiful version ... it was at the Royal Festival Hall though ... I was lucky enough to be there on one of the nights.

Dear God I hate that dreary sap.

After the brilliance of The Jam, I kept thinking that The Style Council was intended to be a massive piss-take.

And given Weller's political views, it seemed a horrible and perverse celebration of Yuppies, Sloanes, and braying Hoorahs in the mid-1980s.
