The Japanese will be off soon as he goes. Until then, Barber needs to clear as much tat from the club shop as possible. They absolutely buy anything and seemingly can’t get enough of so it’s yippeee time at the tils and long may it continue!
Tat made in China, shipped to the UK, flown to Japan :lolol:

Good reason to keep hold of him if it increases our footprint in Asia/Japan

That plus he is one of the best wide midfielders in the league. Probably moreso this.
Surely it’s both?

He’s a very exciting player who happens to be Japanese. Caicedo is a very exciting player who happens to be Ecuadorian. They’re awesome players for us. The interest in them, however, not only keeps the tills ringing, but may mean that the next Mitoma or Caicedo actually see Brighton as a “want to play for” club.

My boy sent this to me during the game as he was watching with the "stateside Seagulls" in the Hudson Bar in Chicago.

I was having a chat with one Japanese guy in the concourse. He have flown over the day before and going back the day after. Mental!
I assumed most were Japanese living in the UK
Did he say which bit of the journey was longest? Tokyo to LGW? Or Mill Road P&R?

Having lived in Tokyo, I can't imagine what our Japanese tourist friends think of our trains. While they will be very used to squeezing into cramped carriages and standing on packed trains, they're coming from a culture where you get an apology / explanation slip for your employer if your commuter train is more than two minutes late, where the underground / metro system must be about the best in the world, where the track can easily withstand small earthquakes and where the over 50 year old Shinkansen's are still one of the best high speed trains ever.

Then they arrive at Gatwick, are confronted with a range of inexplicable ticket options, not in their own language, wait 45 minutes for a train to Brighton that's delayed due to a track circuit issue before cramming into a 20 minutes late, three carriage rattler to Falmer with a load of coked up, cockbonnet wearing racists singing a funny song about some bubbles.

Based on my experience, they’ll thank the station staff, take smiling selfies with the racists with their ‘two fingers’ up and pick up all the litter in the train carriages.

Sounds like you got the same train as me on Saturday then! The West Ham Yoof had so much coke I could smell it on them just by standing a 1 metre or 2 away.

It's wonderful that they are here and enjoying coming to our city and watching our club. I hope they feel very welcome.

I'm sure the amount they are spending in not that huge in PL income terms, but I doubt Barber will be complaining.

There was a reporter for Japanese TV interviewing fans in the pub before the match, English guy who speaks fluent Japanese doing his piece to camera in Japanese before switching to English for the interview. Got chatting to him after, apparently it was the third match in a row they had been sent to report. He was also in Qatar for the World Cup as a fixer for Japanese TV.

Any Japan based fans on NSC able to capture/share any of it?

Apparently there are Japanese fans flying in from Tokyo on a Friday night, coming to the Amex and then flying back to Tokyo on Sunday!

Also the Asian tourists often seen between Birling Gap and East Dean are apparently mainly Korean. A big Korean pop star filmed a music video on the seven sisters near Birling Gap, and the song turned out to be one of their most popular. So their fans make a pilgrimage to the location of the video.

If Barber and Bloom can find a Korean gem and propel them to stardom as well we will never have unsold tickets or merchandise again! Start quadrupling the kit orders now!

Just hope the atmosphere at the Palace match doesn't ruin our lovely Japanese fans notion of the UK being a land of happy smiling people

I’m more concerned about what logistical nonsense the police and stewards will dream up this season. I so enjoyed the police made crush outside the east after the match last season.

When we visit East Dean and walk to Birling Gap, there are always Asian tourists at Birling Gap. Even pre-pandemic, often wearing face masks!

It is a stunning area …. The Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Valley are world famous.
Apparently that is due to some Taiwanese singer filming a music video that way. East Dean cricket club tried to make some money out of it.
