"Dear God! Do we have to choose between Graham Potter and Steve Cooper? We're missing out on everyone else!"

There's maybe a 5% chance of something that one of those two are coaching us next season...

See this as the anti-panic thread.

This is my (incomplete, because if I spend another hour on it I'd find a couple more) list of non-Cooper/Potter managers who I could imagine us appointing (in most cases to much excitement):

Unemployed
Gerhard Struber (last club RB Salzburg)
Mark van Bommel (Antwerp)
Gio van Bronckhorst (Rangers)
Stefano Pioli (Milan)
Pascal Jansen (AZ)
Javi Gracia (Leeds)
Quique Setién (Villarreal)
Bruno Genesio (Rennes)
Niko Kovac (Wolfsburg)
Will Still (Reims)
Scott Parker (Club Brugge)
Rafa Benitez (Celta Vigo)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United)
Laurent Blanc (Lyon)
Ruud van Nistelrooy (PSV)
Liam Rosenior (Hull)
Marcelo Gallardo (Saudi somewhere)
Michael Beale (Sunderland)
Philip Cocu (Vitesse)
Wouter Vrancken (Genk)

Employed
Thorsten Fink (St Truiden)
Luke Williams (Swansea)
Michael Carrick (Middlesbrough)
Carlos Corberan (West Bromwich)
Kjetil Knutsen (Bodö/Glimt)
Eric Roy (Brest)
Vincenzo Italiano (Fiorentina)
Hein Vanhaezebrouck (Gent)
Jindrich Tripsovsky (Slavia Prague)

Feel free to add to the list or tell me if someone snuck off and found himself a new job or something.

I think Chelsea and Man Utd deliberately put a spoke in the wheel , they both knew we we after KM so they both interviewed him knowing he was never going to get job , this obviously unsettled him and sent him back to Ipswich with his tail between his legs and a great big contract

I don't think they're ever doing anything "deliberately", things just kind of happen. More likely all three of us met with KM, said "ok mate we'll call you when you reach puberty" and he went home to Ipswich.
Scott Parker was on my flight back from Portugal a couple of weeks ago and we shared a lift in the car park. Didnt have the nerve to ask what went wrong at Club Bruges! He still looked in holiday mode so its a no from me
Would it be a yes if he was wearing a suit and pretending to do his non-existent work on a laptop?
Michel Sanchez of Girona is highly rated and ticks the boxes.
He's employed by City Group and managing a Spanish Champions League team. Not happening.

I think it actually sent him back to us asking for a kings ransom alongside another kings ransom to Ipswich as compensation. I think we then pulled the plug.

I’m confident he’ll get relegated with Ipswich next season. They’ve spent all their money on their manager!

But will teams want to pay his exit price this time next year? Especially if Kompany fails at Bayern spectacularly and people decide hiring relegated managers perhaps isn’t the be all and end all.

I don't think those numbers mean anything on their own.

Van Bronkhorst getting 62% at Ranger strikes me as somebody achieving the minimum that would be expected of them. Similarly Solskjaer's 54% at Man U.

Michel and Amorim are better than all of them but won’t come.

Still isn’t qualified and tanked his last half season.

Ole, Gracia, Beale and Parker are awful. Edit - looking at the %s add Cocu to that.

But good list otherwise.

Some exciting options on there.

As much as I wish we would hurry up and am happy to wait for the best option.

Probably not, but Scott Parkers 16.67% does leap out.

You really think Chelsea and Manu U, looking to appoint a new manager, sought out the Ipswich manager for a day of silly buggers, just to stop him going joining us?

And sometimes I wonder how anyone can be so mad as to think voting for Sunk and co this July would be a really good idea.

Indeed. I've not given much thought to "win ratio", and only cared a little about "success", and looked a lot more at possession numbers and the willingness to play youth players.

I'll put José Mourinho in your maybe pile then.
