I suspect the issue is at a much lower level. I'd like to see what % of qualified referees are BAME. I've never seen one across the pyramid of football including Sunday league.

The way a significant number of players behave it’s no wonder that referees aren’t good enough. The way Man Utd players were on Tuesday night for example, why would any sane, competent person want to preside over that festering pool of multi-millionaire amoeba? The properly good ones will either choose to referee rugby, or just work in a completely different industry. Footballers, their coaches and managers, have brought it on themselves for years now.

Thats my only memory too.

I used to Ref in my teenage years to make a bit of money, stopped when I turned 18 as it wasnt really anything I wanted to pursue long term. I dont recall ever coming across anyone of any other race than white.

On a side note I more often than not ref'd Beach Huts sons team. Very nice team and always looked out for me.

About 25% of players registered to the 92 clubs in the PL / EFL are BAME.
About 10% (2000~)( of registered referees to the FA are BAME.
Precisely 0% of referees in the PGMOL Elite Group are BAME.
There are only 4 BAME referees in the top 7 leagues in the UK.

Years ago refs often came from a posher background to players.

Friend and Atkinson are absolutely shite and arrogant with it.

We’re a joke. Other European nations are now streets ahead of us in elite refereeing quality. CL and International refs are calmly brilliant, imho not home-biased and not intimidated by the cheating likes of Simeone.
