Europa quarter final, 2nd leg for Alireza on Thursday, well set up for him and his team to make the semis. Perhaps against Manure or USG.

Good luck to the bloke. Wasn't up to PL
standards IMO, but always seemed to give it his best effort which, unfortunately, wasn't enough.

That overhead bicycle kick was some goal to be remembered for.

Player not being picked unhappy with the manager - shock news.

I think there are enough positive reports about Potterā€™s man management to more than balance this out - Jahanbakhsh was just never good enough for us under both managers he played for here.
Just a thought, . . . . On his day he was good enough, unfortunately he only had 2 or 3 . . . .plenty of people on here said the same about Solly, for years.

I wonder what RDZ could have got from him . . .

Can't help but think of Swanny when Potter comes up in any slightly negative comments.

What ever happened to Swanny? Did he follow Potter and get the sack? Or his man-love hero being found out at Chelsea was too much for him?
He got banned for antisemitism.

Well I believe that RDZ can get blood from a stone and turn water in to wine, so I see no reason that he couldn't have turned Alireza in to a premier league footballer.

I think we all saw enough of Ali J under Hughton & Potter to know he wasnā€™t cut out for the premier league

nah, some players just not suited. in AJ case good player but didnt see him keep up pace, the press or the defensive sides.

If both teams progress then Ali J and Feyenoord will face USG in the semi finals. The draw was made at the same time as the QF draw.

Always felt there was potentially a player in Alireza and he showed glimpses but he never started more than 2 PL games in a row for us so must have been very hard for him to get up to speed when you are in an out of the team like that. He seems like a decent bloke though so glad heā€™s doing well elsewhere.

I always thought there was a really exciting player in Ali J but we just didnā€™t play to his strengths
An exciting player in league 1 maybe. But his ball control would have let him down playing for some of the better teams in that league.
Probably the worst of our EPL signings?

He's shit in the Netherlands too. The standard is very poor this year. Feyernoord will win the league, more because ajax have imploded.
We would win the eredivisie easily with our current team.

I'm all over this thread agreeing that Jahanbakhsh wasn't good enough / suitable enough for the Premier League. 100%. I'm just surprised at how a guy with basically a Masters in dealing with people handled players who were difficult. Let's face it, it's not just AJ. You've got Connolly picked, dropped, loaned, picked, dropped loaned. You've got March constantly played out of position who, it turns out, is an incredibly good footballer when played in position. You've got Ferguson never played (perhaps a supposed lesson learned from Connolly?). Difficult problems but ones he was supposedly educated to deal with.
