I’m only shouting because I thought you must be deaf. Sorry. You must be dim instead if you can’t differentiate. Will leave it up to you to decide, your prerogative. But he was generally. And who’s Malcolm?

I'm not rising to you, sunshine. We're all entitled to our opinions but this one of yours doesn't stand up to scrutiny so now you're rambling and hurling insults. Take care mate. UTA

The Scrutiny Times and it’s sister publication, The Scru, both concluded AJ failed last season and that’s all there is to it. We ALL hope he’ll do much better this forthcoming season mind.

I agree with you that he was largely crap last season, certainly if you go by his stats. I thought your point was that he is crap. Anyway, I definitely agree that I hope he does much better this season.

Saw a young lad wearing an Ali J shirt in Barcelona today. This is all.

If the club shop are going to charge a flat fee for any name and number, Jahanbakhsh 16 is comfortable the most economical. The young lad is clearly a savvy consumer.

And the green shirts were recently reduced in price I believe. He will go far.

I'm probably reading too much into it, but I'm surprised he didn't even get a run out today. Is he going to be shipped out?

Well it doesn't look like he'll feature much as a first teamer, especially when you consider how good this Trossard looks and how March seems to be still improving

There were a lot of the squad didn't get a run out today. Wouldn't read a lot into it.

Yeah I kind of agree - but at the same time he's our record signing and Locadia and Trossard both played the full 90 minutes. You'd have though Potter would bring him on for one of them - even just for 10 minutes at the end just to have AJ feeling involved.

The rumours from the unofficial game against Pompey (played in blistering heat) was that AJ scored. I would assume from today's selection that Jahanbakhsh, Gross and one of the two regular left backs from last season played in that game.

I was expecting a load more changes in the second half to be honest, Button, Baluta, Bernardo, AJ, Gross etc. Maybe if Potter had decided to switch formation and change to four at the back we may have seen a heavier change in personnel. I dunno... in Potter we trust!

we had a behind doors friendly in the week and he scored in a 1 nil win so maybe that's why Connelly didn't play

From what I heard (and I have absolutely no reason to doubt the authenticity) we actually played a double-header on Tuesday; the line-up against Pompey was largely first-team fringe players plus U-23, and a second match against a Championship side was largely the first-team first choice. I was therefore somewhat surprised to see the report (from what appears to be a legitimate source) that Jahanbakhsh had scored against Pompey.

However, as we are still in pre-season, I don't think we can read too much into any of this as yet. AJ may have a knock or be ill for all we know (as Alzate was last weekend). But if he doesn't feature (or gets minimal playing time) against Valencia next week it would be a bit more telling.

I'm not sure it is surprising if AJ was in the fringe players plus U23s team that played against Pompey. Fringe player pretty well sums up where/what he is, surely?

Pretty much what everyone was saying about Big Jurg, a couple of months ago.
Now Jurgen seems to be the 'go too starter' in these friendlies, whereas Ali is conspicuous by his absence.

Maybe the doom-mongers were right?.

We'll certainly know for sure in 2 to 3 months time.
