TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran international Alirza Jahanbakhsh is looking forward to linking up with newly-appointed Albion coach Graham Potter.

... Jahanbakhsh will have a full pre-season this time with Potter following another appearance for his country in a 1-1 friendly draw in South Korea, which he withdrew from at half-time after feeling unwell.

He already has some inside information on the head coach from international teammate Saman Ghoddos, who played under Potter in Sweden for Ostersunds FK.

“He (Ghoddos) was very positive about our new manager and that gives me even more of a good feeling ahead of the start of pre-season,” Jahanbakhsh told Argus.

Football-wise he wants to use the wingers and get them to create chances. It’s all about looking forward and scoring goals, but he also wants to talk to the players and get the feeling of the way they like to perform. I am really looking forward to linking up with him and to see how he wants us to play,” he added.

Try as I might I just can't see what Ali's getting at there. :lolol:

LoL [emoji23] I’m sure Chris was chuffed to pieces with that comment! [emoji6]

It's difficult when he's not fast, strong or skilful enough to take players on. Technically good but hasn't got the attributes to take people on. Hopefully Potter will get more out of him (one assist will do) but it won't give him the attributes he hasn't got. Some pace around him and not making him play left back will help.

Can’t really remember him playing left back ...think you are exaggerating his defensive role a tad there....however I have wondered if he’d get more joy as a ten...clearly has something to offer

As a ten he's going to have to play to his one shown (so far) strength - and that's touch out of the feet and BANG.

Wonder if he’s practising trying to beat a man

Very few players 'beat a man' in the Premier League.
I'll hazard a guess there are more players who actually 'beat their man' more regularly.

Let's just start with the basics, play the ball forward into space, see what he can do and take it from there.

The Iranian Skalak needs to focus on the basics like his first touch before worrying about scoring goals.

Will never be a premier league player as long as he has a hole in his ass!

I’d say his speed of thought as well as his actual speed are both concerns. He can shoot. Can he cross? Apart from that, he is the perfect player...

There is more chance of Boris Johnson being a successful PM, AJ is just not Premier League quality, 17 million & a 5 year contract, that must be in the region of a £30 million investment! and I would love some smart ass to drag this post up in a years time to prove me wrong.
