The affection between Messi and Mac Allister was clear to see throughout the tournament.

As a fellow introvert, the Brighton forward reveals there is a quiet understanding between him and the PSG superstar.

“With him [Messi], I have a normal relationship,” Mac Allister added.

“I’m a shy guy and I try not to speak a lot – he is similar.

“We don’t speak too much but on the pitch we have a good connection.”

Still in Brighton

Would like him to play alongside Messi at PSG. For £100 million (to be said in Dr Evil style).

Just talked about on sky sports news nonsensical ‘transfer’ hour chat or whatever, they spent a lot of time saying ‘no disrespect to Brighton BUT….’
No disrespect to Brighton but the kid deserves a move to 'on a downward spiral and just been thrashed by Brentford' Liverpool or 'one win in seven, owned by a megalomaniac with little understanding of football' Chelsea.

Absolutely all over Twitter……search ‘Mac Allister’ and take your pick….stuff like this

So looking forward to flying to Buenos Aires tonight to spend 3 days birding there before sailing to Antarctica. Plenty of Albion polo shirts packed to be wearing for these days.:)

You have to laugh at fans of certain rivals clubs (none of whom, coincidentally, have World Cup-winning players) who have accused Albion of going over the top and being cringeworthy in their celebrations. It seems to have passed them by that yesterday's welcome was at least partly about making Ally Mac feel valued and loved. Perhaps if a certain club to our west had shown as much love to some its players they might have lost so many of them.

"Birding"? I've always known it as "Goosing", but dialects, eh...?

Any links please
Instagram link Judging by a lot of the comments, the club needs to open a BHAFC store in Buenos Aires to sell shirts with MacAllister on them. They'd go like hot cakes, at the moment.

Do you think that, thanks to all the love we've given Ally Mac and hence the media coverage and love we're getting back form Argentina, there is a small kid somewhere in Argentina whose dream is now to play for the Albion?

How nuts would that be?
Imagine in 20 years that kid ends up playing for us and being able to bounce a post on here about how we gave Mac Allister too much time off.

They'll probably claim to have travelled up to Gillingham to watch us there.

It's a very clever PR move:

1) Makes Ali Mac feel valued;
2) Advertises the club to potential signings from Argentina and South America;
3) Advertises the club to Mitoma's colleagues from the Japan squad who must be attracted by the tidying up opportunities that such a gesture would bring.
