Unless Stephens or Kayal are going why do we need Norwood?

JFC replacement? Holla replacement? Ince replacement? We can but hope it's one of those and not a replacement for DS...

I know October is a long way off and memories will forget a bit, but wonder what Amex reception he'll get now...

Indifferent really why would he? Can you blame a playing being able to get more money.

What reception will Stephens or Kayal get for not signing a new contract.

I've never been a boo-er, I can just see that some people will. No, I can't blame him in the slightest - I'd do the same!

Would be a substantial spend to replace any of those, none of whom were considered good enough for the firt team squad, but he would be a definite improvement on them.

Could it possibly be because hughton wants 4 players for those 2 central midfield slots and doesnt rate ince or holla highly enough.
Its always conspiracy theories with you. Maybe norwood can play left back too and was once nicknamed Matt Derbyshire

Find me one of those glowing NSC reports about Norwood and I will bow my head in shame.

I doubt there is one. We've played against him a few times though and he has always done ok. Not that NSC is where I go for player knowledge - watching games of football does it for me.

Because we got lucky with the number of games Kayal and Stephens were available for last season, neither suffered long absences through injury. Factor in the fact that we can't bring in emergency loans anymore, and that Sidwell is our only decent backup in that position then bringing in a 4th central midfielder capable of stepping straight in makes sense, it's one of the key positions. We don't want to face Spetember onwards with Holla, Ince or Towell facing a long run in the team if we suffer a Bong/Rosenior type problem in that position.

The question is more would Norwood be happy coming here knowing he'll start at least 3rd choice.

I feel that he is good without being great.

His random acts of brilliance paper over the cracks of his all round play.

Not been mentioned but I would think it will be in the region of £1m

Not like you to pluck things out of the air. If we sold Ince, what do you think he'd go for? Something around 500k - £1million you'd assume right?

Gutted about Pritchard but from the moment it was released to the press that we were close to signing him, there was always a chance this would happen. It wouldn't have been us who released it so either Spurs were trying to get a better deal or Pritchard/his agent were.

It is frustrating though that, if Villa hadn't moved ahead of Norwich for McCormack, we may have got this sealed. Honestly think Pritchard is making a mistake. According to Norwich fans, they don't need him and he may well sit on the bench. For us, he'd have been clear first choice.

Not sure how true this Norwood rumour is but, sadly, it makes it more likely that Stephens is off if that goes through. Not looking good now for the start of the season! Would have been a huge boost to sign Pritchard.

Not a case of a conspiracy theory as I would have thought Sidwell and Towell plus U23s would have been adequate when other areas need replacing or adding to more urgently.

Norwood is a decent championship midfielder. No world beater but a decent player. He's been linked to a few lower PL clubs, Bournemouth, Hull and Burnley so if we have picked him up that IMO is a good signing. He is similar to Stephens not a lot of goals but a decent passer of the ball and with only a year left on his contract you'd expect it to be a good price. More of a holder perhaps than Stephens but definitely very similar in style. Could be a replacement but we are one light in there currently IMO.
