This recession has ripped the self respect out of ordinary folk. In the not so distant past shopping here was social suicide. The equivalent of doing your clothes shopping in Oxfam

Easiest to do it a pan, but my foreign friends swear by them.

My thinking is that it is more likely to burn in a pan, well for me anyway. People who use do them do swear by them, but rice cookers/steamers were used to avoid burning before we had microwaves.

I am sure you will have lovely rice though
