Managed to blag a promo of Jane Weaver - Modern Kosmology. On the third play today now, really enjoying her work.

Quite a heavy wall of sound, but doesn't detract from pretty strong lyrics.

I did chuckle at The Guardian review which followed up "Kasabian are back with a new single called You're in Love a Psycho" with "scary words to hear. No, not the song title but Kasabian are back with a new single"

:lolol:

What are people's thoughts on Gorillaz new long player? It's not immediate but it's certainly a grower imho. There's a certain Hercules and The Love Affair influence on a number of tracks which isn't a bad thing.

Dullsville on first couple of listens. I'm not sure I'll give it many more.

I felt the same on the first couple of listens. Really getting/enjoying it now....some nice little melodies on it which only seemed to appear after a few listens.

I've also bought Julia Holter's In The Same Room. It's a live (studio) recording of her recent live set. I bought it on double vinyl and the music and the physical product are both a thing of beauty.

Had a bit of a splurge and have just bought a shed load of Four Tet vinyl. Part of the fall out of this was being made aware of Anna Meredith and her extraordinary album called Varmints. Anyone else know of her?

Looove her. Saw her at TGE 3 years ago in the kemptown church just after her first 12" release. It was my album of the year 2016. She's not played down here since (apart from TGE last year which I now avoid).

I'm seriously pleased to report the new Black Lips album has them back on track after the big disappointment of 'Underneath The Rainbow.' Ian St Pe (guitars) and Joe Bradley (drums) have been dispensed with and a new line-up formed around the songwriting/ party-starting fulcrum of Jared Swilley (bass) and Cole Alexander (guitar/ vocals)

'Satan's Graffiti or God's Art,' recaptures the fire that has made the Lips a close to 20 year garage rock institution, whilst also being their most varied set to date. Anyone into the recent garage rock revival Stateside (which I know there's a few on here) or the grot-punk of Fat White Family (whose Saul makes an appearance here) should get involved and then get to career highlights 'Arabia Mountain,' 'Good Bad Not Evil,' and 'Let It Bloom,' and endevour to catch them live when they inevitably tour.

Just ordered the new Slowdive album on silver vinyl. It's REALLY good, isn't it? Can definitely hear their influence on Interpol, much more so than the lazy Joy Division comparisons...

It's a peach. I could just listen to the first minute or so of the first song on repeat for an hour and I would be in pieces; probably best to listen to the whole thing, to be honest, but it's chiming, beguiling, loud, quiet, beautiful, sad and joyous. A keeper.
