Exodus - Bob Marley

No fillers - every track a gem.

3rd June 2007 is 30 years to the day since the release of Marley's album EXODUS.

Don't miss the Arena special on Sunday 3rd June @ 10pm on BBC2

Great call and I'll make sure I watch it on Sunday!

Have to 'acquire' *cough* Soul Asylum - never heard the album

Why thank you, watch Flash Gordon, then google Ornella Muti, and make sure safe search is off ;)

Also would recommend Sould Asylum, well worth the couple of quid you can pick it up for now

Are they the same Soul Asylum who had one big hit with 'Runaway Train'?

Who in their right mind wants a STURDY album that can take whatever the years can throw at it, like some poxy Ronson wood seal thing? You want something that reminds you of a moment, whether it be a month ago or a quarter of a century ago. Like the first Arctic Monkey's album reminds me of sitting shivering in a fleece in an unheated flat for the best part of a month. Or falling in love with a Spanish girl to the soundtrack of 'With The Beatles'. Both these albums would sound so-so most of the time. But played once in a blue nmoon they hit the SPOT

Totally agree there.

Much as I like Meat Loaf's stuff, he seems to have spent a lot of his career trying to match up to that one awesome peak from 30 years ago, that still sounds as fresh to me today as it did the first time I heard it.

BTW, if you like Meat Loaf, have you ever heard Jim Steinman's solo album?

Definitely.

If you like Meat Loaf, I reckon you'll like it.

A fair few of the songs on there have been sung by Meat at some point in time (Lost Boys And Golden Girls, Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through to name but two), but definitely worth a listen IMO.

As well as being a great writer, Jim's a pretty good vocalist (although his voice isn't as powerful as Meat's obviously) in his own right.

The album is called 'Bad For Good', btw.

This thread is not about that, or those albums that remind you of a brief moment in time.
If people are not in their "right mind" to call albums timeless, then - I have to say that this thread is for us.

See you on a *different* thread

I'd suggest in that case your thread is meaningless. OK whatever that Beach Boys album was that had all the wizzy harmionies and everything probably stands up today as having pretty decent production values (and no doubt WORLD CLASS in their time as Paul Gambiccini would no doubt tell us, were he to be alive today - which he probably is, somewhere on BBC digital Radio 7 or something)

My point is: no such thing as 'timeless' as regards an album. No rgight, and no wrong (tho I YEARN for London Irish to be on here and tell me otherwise  )
