Uncut's review of the year has the peerless Shelley right up there, and deservedly so.

Slightly surprised that the Loyle Carner and Daniel Avery albums haven't made the list. Would also throw in Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs too as I think it's been massively slept on this year.

Have only two one their list, Fontaines D.C and Hot Chip.

Sault have also released 6 albums this year now and it is probably remiss not to include any of them, but still.

Edit: of course I 've just realised Rough Trade can hardly sell these because they are all released independently so why would the pick them.

ll give it a few weeks before I post my top 10. I will list 10, otherwise it just becomes a list of what I have bought. Top 5 in order, rest will be ranked 6-10 but not necessarily following that order.

Coming from the heavier end of the spectrum music taste wise, very few of those on the Rough Trade list appear in my AOTY list. Having said that, Rina Sawayama's record is a rare exception as a pop record that has cut through to me and will be in my Top 10. Like the Nova Twins and some of their songs are absolute earworms, but their record was completely fine.

Like @jackalbion, I will probably will end up posting a Top 30 in a few weeks once a couple more albums I need to listen to that could crack it are out, though could easily go into the 50s if I wanted to.

For me, the obvious ones off the top of my head that are missing include Loyle Carner, Fred Again, Franc Moody, Bob Vylan, The Comet is Coming, Jamie T, Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn, Working Men's Club, Khruangbin and Leon Bridges, Gabriels...and Arcade Fire, though I guess they've been cancelled.
Glad to see some love for Bob Vylan album. It is very much in contention for my favourite record of the year.

Was lucky enough to see them at 2000 Trees in July. Smallest tent was rammed 10 minutes before they were due on and it was an absolute rager of a performance. Also have a ticket to their sold-out show at the Electric Ballroom at the start of next month, which will be a fine way to cap off my year in terms of gig going.

I saw them at The Great Escape, in Coalition. Incredible gig.

Strange not to see Suede's album Autofiction on that list, also loved Porcupine Tree's Closure/Continuation.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Suede album, having been recommended it by a colleague, I did come into it thinking it would be another old band forcing out a below par album so they could get the tour money, but it was really good.

Yeah the only one for me that would appear in my top albums list is Kendrick Lamar.

Not sure about anything other than my top 2 which would be Lorna Shore - Pain Remains and Oceans Ate Alaska - Disparity.

Two crushingly heavy albums but the Lorna Shore record is full of emotion and an absolute masterpiece. Disparity has a really cool mix of heaviness with other genres underneath, trap and lo-fi elements really mix well.

Horizons - Jasmine Myra.

Vulture Prince - Arooj Aftab ( Released last year, but reissue as deluxe version this year. The recording quality on this album is exceptional )
