Who’s our David Fairclough? Scorer, game saving tackles or assists from the bench? Can’t think who - Gerry Ryan perhaps or did he start too regularly?

I like reading that kind of thing from that era. Most footballers' favourite food always seemed to be steak.
For the most part they weren't too dissimilar to the fans at that time.

Gerry Ryan
Another for Gerry, some great memories of watching him play until the game against Palace which ended his career.
Also as many, if not more, memories of great sessions in The Witch in Lindfield, which he owned and ran for many years.

I wonder how many of today's squad will retire and run a pub in a Sussex village? (Possibly his fellow Irishman, Aaron?)

I would say for those of a certain age, Eric Potts was always the super sub. Not so much a thing with multiple subs coming on but back when there was only one sub, they were was more expectation about making a difference.

I can also why people voted for Ryan, especially as in his later years he was also a useful fill in at full back from the bench if needed.
