I do apologise for interrupting the great NSC RDZathon that is currently ongoing here this weekend, but life continues apace on the good ship Albion and we have an U-16 academy player representing his country at a finals tournament this week.

Adam Brett is a member of the Welsh U-17 side that has reached the finals of the 2024 UEFA U-17 European Championships being held in Cyprus. The FA of Wales website carries a short interview with our young man, discussing the Finals as well as his taking of GCSEs:-

The tournament commenced today. Wales are in Group B, alongside Denmark, Austria and Croatia.

Wales lost 2-0 to Denmark with Adam coming on as a 78th-minute substitute.

Wales are next in action on Thursday against Austria and then on Sunday against Croatia.

You need to change your user pic, mate. Now it's Dr Who season, why not pick something pertinent. Guessing your vintage, how about this perty little fellah:

It's the U-17s.

Freddie Simmonds did play up a year for them back in September but no surprise he isn't in this squad. We do have a former player in there though, in the form of Shumaira Mheuka.

Thanks didn’t realise he was playing a year up. Mheuka is going to be the one we regret

England had an impressive 4-0 victory over France in Group D of this tournament today.
Hopefully a sign of things to come as if all games go as expected we’ll meet them in the semis in a month or so

Incidentally, I think this match (which kicked-off about ten minutes ago) MIGHT be available on the BBC - for anyone interested - but I'll await someone who actually lives in the UK to confirm that.

Adam Brett came on as a 71st minute sub for the Welsh U-17s on Sunday as they drew 1-1 with Croatia (and, in the process, prevented Croatia from qualifying for the knockout stages).

Wales finished bottom of their group with a solitary point.

England U-17s beat Spain 3-1 today (former Albion academy prospect Shim Mheuka scored England's first goal).

England now face Italy in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
