Sometimes worries me when I watch the U23s - we're supposed to have this wonderful progression from youth through to the 1st. team (though appreciate most won't make it) but why, if there is supposed to be this co-ordination does the U23 team play like a Hughton team facing fast opponents? - eleven men behind the ball, flinging bodies at the ball, struggling to get it clear, the opposition's last line of defence comfortably on our side of the half way line and in yards of space; slow and laborious progress towards their penalty area - three seconds later their team is streaking towards ours.

Our 2-1 half time lead is a smash and grab raid, purely and simply. Palace-like luck, tbh. Wish our first team could be that jammy! The better team is losing.

Bizarrely absolutely no reference to this by the commentator, either when the team sheet was shown at the start and when he came on. Missed the chance to mention the 7 goals he scored against Gibraltar u19s back in Nov 2019 (in a single game).
