Albion training event at Withdean today

There was a special training event today at Withdean. The whole first team squad (which is about 30+ players) trained before invited school groups (of disabled kids) and the Seagulls Specials. It was a good day, Gully and his bird turned up along with a few Gully's Girls.

My observations on the training are as follows

1)The sheer size of the squad.

2)In the match that took place FDM was in one goal and Sully up the other end. I didn't see the Danish lad train but he was there as he was signing autographs.

3)Glen Murray played the whole match and scored.

4)Coxy ran around like a nutter.

5)I realise it was in front of a crowd but the training didn't seem very complex. A few stretches, run around a bit, a few more stretches. Passing in a circle and then play a match

6)I'm really not sure what Dean White and Bob Booker contributed to procedings. Having said that, Russell Slade didn't have a vast input.

7)Gary Hart was there but didn't train.

At the end of training the players spent about an hour signing autographs and having photos taken. They all seem like a really decent group of blokes. They were all friendly, patient and approachable. Coxy seemed the most popular, but I particularly liked Andrew Whing. I thought he was excellent with the group of kids around us

My son attended this,i hoped that he would ditch his villa top for just one day,i have not been able to speak to him yet to see how the day went but it sounds like a good day,how did you get to go with the kids? group organiser ect?

I thought he looked very committed seeing as it was a training session.

Interesting you say this. I train down the King Alfreds and the Albion have some soccer school or something down there and I occasionally see some of the Albion players helping out with the sessions. Think I've seen about 5 different players at different times and Whing is the one who seemed the most involved and interesred by far.
