I thought it would be interesting to see how our views change after a few pre season friendlies. Also, don't know about you, but I am really looking forward to the new season.:albion2:

The team Parks suggests is pretty much what I would go for too, with what we have available at present and assuming that those coming back from injury are OK by the time the season starts...it's not that bad a team and there is reasonable cover on the bench.

If it is true that the club is still looking for a new keeper and midfield player then things will look even brighter, depending on who we bring in...I am happy with FDM behind that defence but have reckoned for a couple of seasons that we needed a little more creativity in midfield, sounds like DW shares that opinion.

Without signings the team will be-

Kuipers
Whing Lynch Butters Rents
Reid El Abd Hammo Cox
Revell Forster

Hinsh, if fully fit, may feature somewhere. I really can't imagine Oatway being anywhere near first choice this season- don't forget he hasn't actually played for 18 months.

What I think is interesting is that loads of people (me included) wanted Gary Hart to be given another year, but not a single person has put him in their team.

Good point - didn't even make my squad. I like OGH but he's only been given a year because of the crazy contractual situation about a certain number of games triggering new deal. Not quite sure what he really adds now?

Plus I would imagine the club are considering the balance of the squad which is still very young, he has also developed into somewhat of a utility player and could be useful as cover if injurys start to take their toll later in the season, that said I suspect this will be his last season with the Albion.

Hart gets in my team and starts on the right..his determination and drive is still there and has been for nearly 10 years..he's lost a little pace...and didnt look great when wilkins gave him 5 minutes or on a rare occasion a massive 20 min run-out....GIVE HIM A DECENT CHANCE WILKINS!

Kuipers

Rents Hinsh Lynch Whing

Cox Reid Hammond Hart

Seeing as you so politely asked, no, I'm f***ing dreading the new season. I think it's going be filled with the same drab uninspiring durge that we have seen for the last 3 seasons, parted temporarily only by the odd brilliant game that you remember for ages.

Uninspiring signings, same old faces, same old results... What could there possibly to look forward to, other than LDC again spuriously putting up their planning appeal...?

You have him on the left whing, with Whing behind and Rents at right back? Interesting...

You know exactly what I mean though.....!

Wouldnt put it past wilkins to do that anyway....he does like to play players in positions they are blatently not suited to.

I think most people view him now as a squad player, he can cover a number of positions adequately, right back, right wing, up front, but is not outstanding in any of them. But he is good for that role because he is always committed, gives 100% etc.

I still think he is worth considering for the right wing spot anyway, he is one of our better crossers.

With the present squad I'd go for:
Kuipers
Whing Butters Lynch Rents
Reid Hammond(c) El-Abd Cox
Forster Elder

I think the most important position that needs addressing is a better defensive midfielder...
