In a pile of football shirts
Hi All, I have been going through my Albion programs and have a number of duplicates. Hopefully there is a list added to this post. All in perfect or very good condition. If anyone is interested please drop me a PM or email to shirts@oldfootballshirts.com and let me know which ones you want. I'm not after anything much for them, you tell me, so long as it covers postage. Cheers

I have never understood people who save programmes, I really don't get it. What is the point? My granny used to save copies of The Times, we shipped out loads from her house when she carked it. What was the point?

Each to their own Lokki. I do actually read them regularly, for nostalgia, for historical reference, I guess the same as you would go back to a book for example.

Really? I just can't imagine reading an old one. Reading the current one on the train home is often painful enough.

Old football programmes are BRILLIANT Lokki. Especially the adverts.

You're not selling it to me MoH. And the more I think of it, the more I see the looming ugly mug of Mike Ward leering at me. That way madness lies.

I can only agree with you. Some of these old programmes sell for tens if not hundreds of pounds. My own Albion collection going back to the 40's must be worth more than me ,and on those miserable nights after the Albion fail to produce it is somehow warming to return to that golden age that is the past.

That Wavy Line logo makes me feel really old (I'm 40). Is that the North Stand behind the players in the fencing advert, with the old East Terrace floodlight pylon in the corner? I thought there was a segregation gap left, or was this from when home and away fans were together? I take it we were playing Scumhampton, as all the players are in stripes. It's confusing in black and white.

Was this after we abandoned the stripes? Does anyone recognise any of the players? By the way, 94p seems cheap for a return ticket. I thought £1 from Haywards Heath to Hove on my Young Person's Railcard was cheap. It's now at least £3, even with a Gold Card.

If you remember at one time you used to get a thing called "Football League Review" inside the programmes as well, that was back in the 70's tho

Ooh, yes, the font page of the program included the line "With League Football" unless for some reason it wasn't availalbe, and then it simply had a line through the text.

The Football League Review ran from 1966 to 1975, although from 1972/73 it was called 'League Football'.

Albion included the mag with programmes from 1967/68 but stopped for the 71/72 season I think.

The development of Albion's programme is a passion of mine and it's amazing how much things have changed over the years. As withdeanwombat says, to read some of the older issues is like stepping back in time.

I bloody LOVE football programmes I do.

You're right - my error!

I've just looked and we also had the mag in some programmes from 74/75

I don't know why, for some games, the mag wasn't included.

FLR/LF was a good read and, in the days of very little coverage, was a great way of getting information.
