Sir Norman Gall was charged for punching some geriatric in the crowd at Rochdale, but he never got any bird for it.

And the first his Mum and Dad knew about it was when it was on the front of the Chronicle in Newcastle, we used to give Sir Norman stick over his pensioner beating. In his defence it was the old codger who provoked the situation by allegedly gobbing at Sir Norm, so mitigating circumstances and all that.

Didn't Teddy Maybank go away at some point?

The great man himself told me that the pensioner in question had called him a "soft southern puff" ...

Graham Cross - was working for the post office and jailed for fraud (or something like that)

Bill Cassidy - 30 goals in the 1960s - did time according to Tim Carder's Albion A to Z. Don't know what for but he had been seriously ill and fell on hard times. He died aged
54. I vaguely remember him as a big hearted player of limited skills but boundless enthusiasm who would chase lost causes all day long.
