He definitely has played CB for us as I’ve seen it! He was used there much more frequently at U-18 level but he has played there for the U-23’s on occasions too, most notably in a back 3 with Turns & Tsoungui when we beat Liverpool 3-0 in December and in a back 4 against Northampton in the EFL Cup (Packham played at RB).

I do agree that he’s looked excellent at RB when played there, but that’s part of the reason I think he’s more suited to the current system than either Turns or Roberts are. Lamptey is on the bench to play RB/RWB, Offiah is there to play this weird attacking RCB role. IMO anyway, I could be miles off.

Fair enough, on the U18s particularly - I've never seen the U18s, for the obvious reason that they're not streamed. While not seeing all the U23s this season, I've watched them on stream whenever possible, and when they played down the road from me at FGR. Turns and Tsoungui were the CB pairing - and were working extremenly well together - with Offiah and Furlong (or Packham) at FB. This set up was scuppered when Tsoungui got his season ending injury, and the formation has flipped around a bit, with both Dendoncker and Roberts getting game time -with Offiah not always playing because of being on the bench for the 1st. team.

I've only seem him playing RB (or maybe, as you say RCB in some of the more unsettled line-ups since Tsoungui bowed out). Of course, young players don't always end up playing in the position they started in as yoofs. So is he a young CB who is now developing into a role as a RB/RWB? - he's certainly fast enough. Mind you, as a CB he's taller than Turns, Tsongui and Roberts too - so who knows

FWIW, I'm sticking with RB/RWB ........................... for now! :)

Did you actually re-watch them to refresh your memory? The moves for the Trossard goal at Anfield and the Mwepu goal at Arsenal, are absolutely world class. If City or Barcelona in their prime had scored either, the football world would have been purring over them. Groß' on Saturday was also absolutely fantastic, but those two are every bit as good. For me, I think the Mwepu one JUST edges it.
Of course I rewatched them.
I'll remind you of this:-

Obviously they were all great goals (and I'm never going to be able to explain this but here goes) and despite all being different they all kinda felt the same.

I'm not sure you can seriously call that selection meh! or even meeeeehhhh.

Mwepu's goal against Arsenal is an exceptional strike.
Fair comment - as above, I was always going to struggle.
How about this:-

To me they all looked like Miss World contests.
Irrespective of their individual beauty and differences they are all still very obviously Miss World contests.
You'd happily disappoint any one of them and it wouldn't really matter which one.

Then on Saturday Salma Hayek kicked her way through the door.
Threw a giant albino snake at the finalists.
Grabbed me by the Bollox and whispered in my ear:-

'You might be the boringest man I know but nothing is more arousing than talk of active travel".
"You're coming with me - and I wanna be shagged quickly".

Sanchez' pass would be top 5 pass of the season.
Cucu control would be top 3 of the season.
Tros' awareness and deft pass was glorious.
Groß movement and precision shot was almost good enough alone.

As said Saturday night.
I was genuinely still loosing my shite at Sanchez and Cucu while Pascal was slotting the ball home.

Nice analogy, but I'm still not considering a quickie with a miss world contestant as Meh!
You obviously have much higher standards than me.

Agree that goal 3 on Saturday, should win GoS though.

I was walking back the "meh" comment.

"Meh" was a mistake.
I was badly trying to say, for me, there wasn't any one winner (or for that matter any one loser either) - that is until Saturday.

Hope to see Jan Paul van Hecke and Matt Clarke at the Amex next year. They deserve the chance.

In a way it's a shame Blackburn didn't get promoted. We could have extended Van Hecke's loan so that he could cut his PL teeth (and learn the inevitable hard lessons) with someone else, and rejoin us as an experienced PL CB in 2023.

Still might be an idea to loan him to one of the promoted teams.

Not our player any more, but Victor Gyokeres seems (from his Instagram) to have picked SEVEN awards at the Coventry do!

Including top goal scorer, Players' player of the season, CCFC Supporters' Club player of the season, and POTS gongs from from various other Coventry fan groups

Strange to give a loan player POTS because when he goes back they've lost their POTS or is it an emotional tie to try to get the player to stay?

SOOooo much classier than Leeds -

"Never thought any loan player could make as big an impact on the team and fans as Harvey Elliott did last season but this man did just that. Great player, great attitude. Good luck for the future."

"The best Loanee we’ve ever had by a country mile, never seen someone play with as much passion as Van Hecke did. You’ve got yourself such a phenomenal player here."

"Thank YOU for loaning him to us, it was a privilege to watch him. He is an exceptional player and he will be a world class defender in the future & one who will become a household name."

Still think it's a shame Blackburn didn't get promoted - they'd have been delighted to have kept him for another season, and from our point of view he would gain a season of PL experience with them before returning to us in 2023.

It's nothing like the drought in the western US. I was in Colorado recently and there is hardly any grass anywhere. Except of course being sold in cannabis stores but only in certain counties without a medical marijuana card. Known as recreational marijuana sales.

The Blackburn Twitterati seem a much nicer and more grounded bunch than Leeds's lot. Lots of praise and well wishes for Van Hecke rather than the arrogance, delusion and entitlement that the Leeds fans showed over Ben White.

We tried that with Sidwell and McShane didn’t we?
