Expected great things, but never really happened.
I will kick off with
David Gipp
Ian Muir
Kevin McGarrigle
I’d put Muir in the “wasn’t given a chance” category. He did make it, big time, but not with us.

The first correct answer. The ones above are not remotely nearly.
I still think that one of our biggest mistakes was made by Barry Lloyd not signing Steve Palmer when he came back from university. He was a mainstay of our most successful youth team and would have been the then equivalent of Dunk.
Terry Stanley

Was never our player . . . fortunately.
Perhaps you could change the surname to Knight though. Ok so he did alright for us, but could, and indeed should, have gone on to much greater things.
If you want to call Tranmere Rovers big time . . . then yes, l suppose he did!
Stuart Myall - I thought we were going to see our first £1m player, but sadly I was a long way wrong on this one.
Joel Lynch - Ok made a decent career as a centre back, but looked a quality prospect, when he broke through at left back.
Joe Gatting - Gifted footballer and cricketer ended up disappointing in both.
Giles Stille. Around a while in the old 1st Div. Often sub I think.
Great name though!
Richard Tiltman
McGarrigle was the guy they thought we would sell for a million. WTF happened to him?
