I genuinely can't see how, if he went, we could realistically adequately replace him no matter what price we got for him. Knocky really is the best you can possibly expect to have in the championship and he's very rare in that he's a talented, tricky winger with a very high work rate and a lot of passion. You don't see that often. I'd be devastated if we sold him, no matter the price.

Agree with this...he's pretty much irreplaceable at Championship level with anyone as good.

People use the cliche 'unearthing a gem' on here too frequently, but in the case of AK it is true. Massive credit has to given to the recruitment team for that, but it also makes me realistic to think we could try another 10 times and not get someone of his quality.

He scores goals/creates assists out of nothing which is a massively important quality - fast counter vs Huddersfield, moment of brilliance vs Brentford, free kick vs QPR etc, this guy will win us games. In addition to his obvious qualities, he's also physically strong, tracks back, integrates well in a team and has a genuine drive to win every game.

On that basis, IF we are aiming for automatic promotion, which has been indicated by TB, then AK is quite literally priceless. If we are aiming mainly for playoffs plus maybe sneak into automatics then he has a price - in my opinion in the 14-16m region.

Even with that kind of money to reinvest, what will we do with it? We're not going to break the bank on a 30 year old McCormack that's for sure.

Where did I say I would be happy, I would not be happy or sad it's the game we are in and we have to acknowledge and admit bigger clubs will swoop for our stars that is a fact.

We are not a big club, we are not a promotion favorite by any stretch of the imagination.

We are a good Championship team with play off prospects, that is it.

We are not going to spend or compete with Newcastle, Villa, Wolves and we are losing out to Sheffield Wednesday for players... We are getting very close to panic buying mode...

Really, are you serious? If he goes, who replaces him. Some overseas consortium that will come in, fail and leave us in massive debt (probably coupled with interest payments).


The whole point is that we are where we are through good management. Look at Forest, look at QPR, Portsmouth etc.

People seem to get a grip in that we are not a big club and, pretty much like every other club in the country, we are a selling club, ie we get an unbelievable offer then we sell. Do you think Spurs really wanted to sell Bale?

At the moment, Bloom and he team have kept the squad together. If we get a good start to the season that may persuade some dithering to stay, equally it might make others more keen to spend more on getting them off us and/or force Bloom to offer more in new contracts. It's a game of cat or mouse, always has been and probably always will.

As others have said to us and our achieving our ambitions then he is priceless. He makes and scores goals and is one of the few players who is capable of turning the game on his own. Players like him will always attract bids but I for one would be absolutely gutted if we end up selling to a rival. Even with the large fee I am not sure we can buy what he brings to our team.

If you are correct and we lose him I would say he would be a substantially bigger loss than either Dunk or Stephens and would probably end any faint chance of Auto's. I believe the club will see this and resist.

When it comes down to it every club is a selling club if a player wants to leave, be it for more cash, glory or both. See Man United and C. Ronaldo, Liverpool and Suarez, even Barca and Figo etc etc.

I REALLY hope he doesn't go but I agree that if Newcastle turn the financial screw hard enough then there's very little we can do about it. It all then comes down to the player.
