My son's 18, and has had an ST since he was 7. He had to suffer the Sami Hyypia years, Palace play-off, etc., so not all wine and roses.
Isn't perspective a funny thing. I still see getting regularly beaten in the second tier as relatively good days, and reaching play offs as fantastic.

Same. Just replying to someone saying that younger fans have only seen success, unlike us old farts. 😎

Shearer: I’m not sure how to write this next bit without sounding like a wanker… but as I watched Ferguson against Newcastle, I caught myself thinking, ‘Yeah, I recognise that’ or, ‘Hmm, I may have seen some of that before’. I don’t know whether it was his exuberance or confidence, the touch of arrogance, but that little strut, the way he handled himself, was very reminiscent of how I felt at that age. Goals were my drug and we share the addiction....

... Ferguson is a special talent, one that needs to be nurtured. He’s at the right club at the right time but, as far as the future goes, he can be anything he wants to be.

There's always a lot of praise for the young superstars at the Albion, but I thought this photo was a fantastic illustration of how importance the older guys are. And OF COURSE Pascal is at the heart of it all...

It's just a shame that most of the nationals went with 'United are useless' rather than 'Brighton are brilliant.'

"Pound for pound, Brighton are one of the greatest teams in English football history."

Skip the rest and scroll down to point 10:

I literally just searched out this thread, to post the very same thing..

Pound for pound, Brighton are one of the greatest teams in English football history. In the past 18 months, while enjoying unprecedented success, Brighton have made a profit of over £150m, and the starting XI that undressed Manchester United in their own fortress cost barely £20m. That’s less than Chelsea reportedly paid for Graham Potter, never mind any of Brighton’s players. It’s like watching a flyweight flatten a heavyweight – again and again and again. Brighton’s victory at Old Trafford was their 12th against a “big six” side in the last 18 months alone. They are defying logic, gravity and the culture of a league that burns money for a laugh. There have been shoestring success stories in the Premier League before, but never with a team that also plays football from the future. It can’t last for ever, so we should all appreciate – OK, Crystal Palace fans are exempt from this – a uniquely charming story. It will make a cracking book one day, especially if they finally reveal their transfer algorithm
