Albion in the Champions League next season!

We should've stuck with Bellotti's Masterplan.

We'd now be in the Doc Martens PREMIER League.

That would be much better than the Coca Cola Championship - which sounds like a belching competition for nine year old boys.

:lolol:

Okay, the First Division I can sort of understand, afterall before the FA stole the old Division One they were playing for the Football League Championship. What isn't clear is why Division Two becomes League One? It isn't the first tier of the Football League, it's the second - so League Two would be a rebrand that makes more sense for it.

Id rather we went back to Divisions 1-4 personally.

Just what I was thinking.

Changing the names is just a load of marketing bullshit. Are we more likely to go watch Brighton play because they are in "The Championship" rather than "League Division 1" - are we bollocks.

Also, what happens to the sponsorship, are we now in the "Coke Championship" - sounds dodgy !

What utter rubbish.

This is really quite bloody ridiculous. I refuse to embrace these new names.
Give it a year and hopefully it will change back - just like Match of The Day.

well I will never call it the championship, it will always be division 1.
Rochdale fans must be delighted, highest they've ever been.(havent moved divisions since 1972 i think)

Is this leading up to the Premiership shutting its doors as now the next league down is the Championship so the the team that wins it will be crowned championship champions and they will not need to get promoted thereby stopping all the clubs that are too small in their eyes having the cheek of playing in their league.

Does that mean sky sports will completely ignore the history of the old division 1 (formally division 2) like they have for the old old division 1 (now premiership)
???

What aload of crap, i reckon that they should have stuck to the 4 divsions as it is easier to understand when looking back in 20 years time, get each of the 4 divsions sponsered by a different company like:
Carling 1st divsion
Coca cola 2nd divsion
Littlewoods 3rd divsion
something or over 4th divsion

Nah, couldn't give a toss.

I wonder if Albion fans moaned in 1920 when the good ole Southern League was rebranded as the Third Division South.

"Absolute piffle, sir, I shall always refer to it as the SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE regardless of what those preposterous bounders at the Football League want to declaim it."

Whatever they call the leagues nothing will actually change. We won't stay in one division/league/championship for more than 3 years at a time. Orient will continue to play Rochdale in whatever the group above the Vauxhall Conference is called.

When they changed the names last time what other clubs were relegated from div. 1 to div. 1, div. 2 to 2, and 3 for 3??

Are we the only one of these to be promoted '2' divisions in one go?
