Right. We All now know that there will be an additional pound or so on each published ticket so no one can complain at being surprised again. So if the price of a ticket is announced as £20, assume its £21.50, decide if you want to pay. End of story. Same with any event you buy tickets for now. Are we really going to moan everytime the club annouce ticket prices for a match? We surely have the most whinging fans in the country.

I understand the point about booking fees when you order on line etc, but why charge one when paying cash at the ground? Presumably recuperating the cost of the ink and paper the ticket is printed on?

Just asking, as I was in the ticket office yesterday, but does anybody actually have a paper ticket yet for the Newport game as I enquired if I could pick mine up as I ordered it online and the booking form said collect ( I sit in the WSU ) and was told they were now senting them by post and they hadn't been printed yet due to a new process.

657 printed tickets (in blocks S1B and S1C) have been delivered to Newport for sale to away fans (with no added booking fee).

Ticket Information
Buying Tickets
Supporters will be able to buy tickets online for the next 3 home games to be played at Rodney Parade.
Tickets will be available in The Bisley Stand and Hazell or North Terrace.
Please note that tickets will be available to purchase online up until 5.00pm on the day before the match.
Mastercard, Visa, Switch, Solo and Maestro cards are all acceptable as methods of payment.
You will need to register and create an account to purchase tickets as with most online shops.
No Booking Fee
Please note that there is no online booking fee for purchasing tickets although at the checkout stage there is an automatic generic option to make a donation (set at £1.00) to the development of Rodney Parade. Please note that this option can be overridden but any donations will go towards Newport County AFC as opposed to Rodney Parade.

Sent by Recorded Delivery (£5.00 charge will apply)
Sent by First Class Post (£1.50 charge will apply)
Collection from Rodney Parade (No Charge)
We are currently working to introduce a "Print at Home" option and will inform all supporters when this is available.

Things are obviously complicated by the fact that Newport County share the Rodney Parade ground with Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC.

Even with cash the banks charge handling fees to businesses to securely deliver or take it away. You still have to pay the ticket office staff to serve customers and those in a call centre taking telephone bookings.

Personally, I believe that any booking fees should be included in the standard ticket price. This gentleman's ticket should have cost him £11 with no additional or secondary fees. Companies arnt allowed to hide VAT so why should they be allowed to hide 10% of the ticket price until you come to pay for it?
Since making my original complaint the clubs .pdf for ticket prices has been updated to mention the mandatory booking fees and how much they cost. As far as I'm concerned this is a good thing and I'm sorry if this upsets you.
As far as I'm concerned that isn't right, I have no doubt that the £1.50 booking fee wasn't ever mentioned to him until after he had handed over his money, how can that be right?
I'm in the process of making a further complaint to the club as they do not mention booking prices anywhere on the online ticketing system until you come to pay for one.

I certainly wouldn't want to pay a ticket booking fee for football played on a pitch shared with TWO rugby clubs. The Rodney Parade surface must be a right state.

Its only redeeming quality (apart from the crowd capacity) is that it is better than Newport's ground for the last few years (the gloriously named Spytty Park) ever was - an athletics track laid on reclaimed swamp land, using impacted materials that never drained.
They have, I believe, been working over the summer to improve Rodney Parade.
