It would be a REALLY good time to draw a line under that FA Cup Final now. It's getting more than a tad sad that it's still being used as an excuse to flog tat.

I agree it is more then a little sad when your claim to fame, is that you once lost in the FA Cup final.

Tho it still has some way to go to matching the scarf which remains lurking at the back of me wardrobe somewhere. Nice enough scarf, mind, apart from it bears the legend:

'Partick Thistle

The Jags

Scottish Cup winners 1921

Scottish League Cup winners 1971'

Why. can't see manUre drawing a line under their 1968 and 1999 European Cup wins.

We haven't got much to celebrate that put us on the national agenda BUT THAT IS SOMETHING.

Remember it well, 4-1 The Jags against the mighty Glasgow Celtic!

I was THERE matey! I was just a wee boy, but I distinctly remember thinking oh shit we're going to get killed. Luckily it was 4-0 at half-time and all the Celtic fans went home. One lifelong Thistle fan next to me, big red-faced bloke, name of Matty, actually keeled over with a suspected heart attack. The result got the biggest cheer of the day at Ibrox where the Gers were, I think, playing out a deeply dull 0-0 draw, and the half-time result was possibly the first ever newsflash on Scottish television.

Rubbish you obviously didn't go THPP as those of us who did will never forget the sheer wonderfulness of that day.

Nah, mate, never went. Couldn't get a ticket, or more likely never applied. Forget which. I'd not long moved to Brighton. Had started going to games on a casual basis, but maybe failed to realise just what a big deal the Cup final was for the club. My mistake for sure. Remember the game vividly though. I watched it in The Hollingbury Arms, a pub so seriously shite you could write your name in dust on the tables. Got violently drunk and projectile-vomited for all of the evening and most of the night. Somehow I'd had been smart enough to stick a bet earlydoors on the Albion to win the Cup at 66/1. Sadly tho, not smart enough to put it on each way. And Smith must owe me money...

1983 is still more recent than 1966.
indeed .... BUT '83 when everything is said and done was a defeat , fair enough we took them to a replay etc,etc.. came so close to winning it at the death with Smith etc... but were defeated in the end

if we had won it completely different story i feel

You've even got the yellow and red jim-jams as a belated memento.

That's right. As luck would have it, I WAS able to order one in person from my local replica shirt emporium, Sporting Colours at 94a Gloucester Road, Brighton BN1 4AP. By a million to one chance, the lardy shop-tender had decided to turn up for work and open aforesaid emporium before the middle of the afternoon. He saw me coming, made to go for the 'f*** Off. We Are Closed' sign. But he's a big man, out of shape, and I squeezed past his considerable bulk into the shop refused to leave until he had sold me one XL Partick Thistle Scottish League Cup final 1971 shirt. Even left him a tip: 'Lay off the pies mate' I said

draw a line under it? you can if you want, but in them days getting to Wembley meant someting (only a maximum of 5 league clubs could do it each year)
Terracing, 100,000 fans, gatecrashers scaling trees to dive through the open gaps at the top of the stairwells, Banners on broomhandles, one of only about 3 live matches on TV each year, I could go on for another 25 years......
