Brighton & Hove Albion Collector’s and Historians’ Society stages its seventh annual Albion Collectors’ Fair in the Hospitality Suite at Withdean Stadium on Sunday, 23rd November.
Visitors will be able to browse through thousands of Albion programmes, handbooks, pictures, fanzines and many other items of memorabilia.
Tim Carder, chairman of the Society, explained: “Our aim is to promote and preserve the great history of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, and we are looking to establish a museum at the new Community Stadium when it opens at Falmer in 2011.
“This annual Collectors’ Fair raises funds towards that purpose while giving supporters the chance to increase their own collections. We also include a live auction, which is always exciting and guaranteed to have a bargain or two.”
The doors will be open from 11am to 2pm, with the auction of Albion memorabilia at 1pm. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.
This year visitors to the fair will be able to inspect the club’s newly restored international honours boards, which detail those players who have made full international appearances while turning out for the club – from Charlie Webb in 1909 to Wayne Henderson in 2006.
“It was our privilege to have these boards expertly restored, and we are most grateful to VH Signs of Woodingdean for doing such a splendid job,” remarked Tim. “It’s also great that visitors to the fair will be able to see first-hand the sort of project that the pursuit of their own hobbies helps to fund through our Society.”
Tim appealed for anyone wishing to enter Albion-related items into the auction or wanting to hire a table to sell their own Albion memorabilia to PM him without delay.
“The Society also welcomes donations of programmes or any other Albion-related material,” he added.
