That AA can't count? - Man City (70), Chelsea (49), Liverpool (47), Watford (43), Arsenal (39), Burnley (38) and Spurs (37) .... which equals 7 and not 6 as having had more shots that the Albion (36)

What it also doesn't tell you is the position of the shot or how likely it's going to go in (for example, Maupay's shot vs Newcastle was extremely unlikely to go in given where it was taken from, the angle, the closeness of the defender and also the position of the keeper)

(It also doesn't tell you how many would have gone down under that initial nudge by the defender as Maupay was heading into the box, and how often that would have led to a better chance / player sent off, etc if the attacker had gone down in that position - are we too honest and try to stay on our feet too much?)

The xg stats take this into account and suggest we should have scored more than we have. Also, we should have conceded less. The opposition being more clinical than us is the story of the season so far, Watford aside.

Bruno got back quicker

I do love a bit of analytics but it needs to show something we don't already know, and flesh it out with some reasoning as to why that may be the case.

For example, if the Albion were significantly worse defensively without Bruno in the side, and many on here see that as a flaw with Montoya. But if some analytics could take it further and show that it's not about Montoya, it's about the make-up of the rest of the defence needing the guidance of the experience Bruno brings, which marshals the whole defence. Maybe it's influenced by who is at right back AND left back. If D&D have to guide both Bernardo and Montoya each side of them, maybe with a language issue going on, then that proves harder than just guiding Bernardo when Bruno is the other side, or just guiding Montoya when Bong is the other side.

It needs to scratch deeper than showing us that we were worse in the 2nd half of last season.

Bruno got back quicker (than Schelotto and Montoya) so he could see what was going on and read the game better with the ball in front of him.

PS : I'm in favour of the lop-sided Poyet formation with one winger and an advancing full back on the opposite side, four at the back at all starts. I think United showed how quickly a defensive 4-2-3-1 could transform into a 4-3-3.
