How's he gonna play RB for us while also representing his constituents in South Leicestershire?

Seems like asking too much.

It's always hard to judge from viewing chosen clips how good someone is, particularly when some of the opposition might be weak.

However, he looks like a big lad who throws himself into tackles. It won't take him long to be on first name terms with the referees.

Hopefully he's brilliant, he signs for us and we have someone extra to share the right-back duties.

I think he'll prefer following his former manager Rui Borges to Sporting and will wait if the clubs can reach an agreement.

Could be there is some bad blood between SCP and Vitoria. No club wants to see their successful manager taken away mid-season (especially after just a few months at the club) but Borges had a clause that Sporting paid so nothing Guimaraes could do. But they could now sell Costa to another club to get their "revenge". Or just demand more money from SCP.

This article suggests we're trying to sweeten the deal in our favour by letting him see out the season where he is before joining us:

The report claims Vitória de Guimarães valued him at €8m before the start of the winter market. Roma met their valuation, while Benfica offered €6m plus €2m bonuses.
It’s claimed Brighton have proposed €10m and are willing to leave him where he is until the summer.
Sporting’s offer is around €9m plus €2m bonuses and they’re confident he would pick them over other clubs because the player can reunite with his former manager, Rui Borges.
Due to the ongoing battle, Vitória de Guimarães value Alberto at €12m. Correio da Manhã claim the fixed fee, bonuses and payment methods will determine where Alberto will end up.
There should be developments in the next few hours or days.
