To be honest it was tough luck he ended up as the player out of contract. If Dicker or Harley were out of contract and Navs was with one year left, he'd have stayed and one or both of the others would have gone.

I was suprised he celebrated. Personally like it when players don't celebrate against old teams and was slightly disappointed tbh.
He has every right to do what he wants but didn't expect him to celebrate. Love the guy tho - glad he's apologised - I guess it was his first game so he did get caught up in the moment.

People suggesting Navs is what we need for a promotion push in this league are wearing massive rose tinted glasses. He was released because he was the one out of contract, Sparrow, Harley and Dicker will be released when they are at the end of their contracts. We need to jettison some of our not poor but mediocre players as they are stuffing up the wage bill.

Was in the Swindon Sponsors Lounge last night as a guest of a business friend, Nav's won their 'man of the match' award and came in to collect it. Had a quick chat with him and he apologised for celebrating after scoring. He said he really didn't know how to behave as he'd never scored two before. Have to say he played a far better game than Harley and probably five or six others of our team to be honest.

Liked the look of Bruno BTW some quality touches and a couple of excellent cross field balls. Seemed to get involved several times though in a bit of silliness, so maybe a slight doubt over his temperament, maybe, perhaps?

Good on him for celebrating. A lot of players don't play the clubs they support.

He commited a fair amount of niggly fouls during the match. I don't blame him. Most people would be a little upfront when it came to facing a previous employer, certainly one who felt fit to release you.

If anyone even thinks of saying 'why let Navarro go' then they're stupid. He was decent but unfortunately not good enough, in the right place at the right time for his goals, fair play.

er.... i'd have thought that being in the right place at the right time is a key attribute of a good footballer?

So how many people complained when he was released in May? He's never scored 2 goals in a game before and got lucky last night.

I was surprised that he was released as IMO he helped to curtail the losing streak mid season. But then I don't know if the Crofts deal was on the cards at the time.

As for last night, I wasn't there so couldn't comment on how Di Canio set them out, maybe he gives Navarro greater license than he had with us? Either way it wasn't me who said he was in the right place at the right time :)

One deflection and one well placed shot, league 1 is clearly his level, he wasn't good enough for us but he wasn't exactly bad, he was average and we need better than average if we want to get to where we want to be.

I'd agree that there are better players available at this level. I was just a bit puzzled by the "not good enough, right place, right time". Thanks for clearing it up!! :)

Let's put it this way. If Navs isn't good enough, then neither are 2/3 of our current midfielders in the squad.

It's not like he milked it infront of the Albion fans in a way to wind them up.

Well done on the 2 goals and on his debut he has every right to celebrate.

You're happy with absolute dross like Dicker and Harley staying and probably playing then? No he isn't a world beater but at the time he was released he was our third best CM behind Vicente and Bridcutt, and well ahead of the rest of the pack who remain at the club and therefore releasing him was a big mistake, although hardly the first Poyet has made.

I think the criticism of Dicker is getting a bit much. He came back after a serious injury and wa sput near enough straight back in the team. Think Gus used him a tad too much as the season was effectively over and he wanted him to get games. Think we will see him be more consistent this season if he gets a run in team. He was a key player when promoted and didnt get a decent chance last year because of injury.

i think that Gary Dicker suffers with too much criticism on here. I would agree that he is not the best midfielder that we have or the quickest but he will always come in and do a job for us when needed. He is a good Div 1 player but that is not good enough for us if we want to be challenging for the top. Navarro fell into the same category but moved on and will be a good Div 1 player for Swindon. I am sure that Dicker will do much the same in January.

No, I'd much rather Navarro than Dicker. Can't compare Harley to Navarro because they're two different type of midfielders, but I think Harley and Dicker aren't good enough for us if we want to be a top 6 Championship side.

But he was not playing against a league 1 side he was playing us ,oh!
